After watching their performance of El Dorado, Disney approached Exo to collaborate and create Lightsaber. Star Wars: Force Awakens was in the making at the time and Exo were most influential kpop group at that time so it was the perfect way of promoting the franchise in Korea. Lightsaber was such a bop❤ and this performance is one of fan favorite. Also noticed how they "transformed" in here 14:43 😂❤ I think we got a Star Wars + Transformers crossover. I think this is the most hyped up I've seen you act 😂 otherwise you're always calm. The order of this was actually overdose, transformer then lightsaber, but probably to avoid copyright, the video was flipped. From what I know, around 2015, Exo was like the most influential kpop group and then they performed El dorado, Disney saw the performance and that's how light saber came about. Next, I hope you could check out hurt, exodus and the star live or let out the beast, keep on dancing, run. I won't say too much, but Chanyeol gives a little solo performance that I'm sure you'll enjoy very much

I think in concert they did lightsaber first. Then other 2 songs and then lightsaber dance break part witj water and lightsabers. But in dvd they put the 2nd half of lightsaber together with the 1st part.

This might be one of the best EXO reactions to Lightsaber! 😅 The MV for Lightsaber is like a little movie where Kai, Sehun, and Baekhyun are Jedi living in Seoul. It’s a shortened version of the song, but filmed very cinematically. It’s a great concept fit with the EXO members being aliens with superpowers, which is very similar to Jedi powers.

Really enjoyed this reaction, Pierre! It’s interesting to hear you talk about little components of the songs that stick out to you, like the synth in lightsaber. I wouldn’t have necessarily focused on it myself, and I got to experience the song in a different way. Also, so cool to watch the evolution of your familiarity with exo and the members. Glad you enjoyed lightsaber, you should definitely check out the short MV that accompanies it for more starwars easter eggs! The transitions and live mixes in their concerts are great too. Whoever puts together the set-list is really good at grouping the songs together, and the live rearrangements are so iconic. Hopefully, one day you can react to some of exo’s older albums on the channel because they used to utilize a lot of electronic elements in their songs!! exo’s music has always been undeniably ~exo~, but their sound has certainly changed and evolved over the years.

Too many comments already so somebody may have already mentioned that in the actual concert, Transformer & Overdose were performed first, followed by Lightsaber. This explains why they were still dry in Transformer when they were all wet after dancing on water in Lightsaber. :)

It started with El Dorado. El Dorado is used as a song to introduce the Black Panther movie franchise in Korea. It was in one of Black Panther's trailers. After that, Disney approached EXO to do the Star Wars collab. EXO actually has several Disney inspired songs e.g. Baby Don't Cry, Peter Pan, Black Pearl, Cinderella, etc.

If in Overdose the rhythm is different from the MV they usually do it a lot in concerts, they change the rhythm of the songs or put a dance part on it, they always change something so that it is not the same and give us something new.

I kinda miss the older exo sound- harder, more performance oriented and experimental yet somehow timeless. Songs like lightsaber, black pearl, transformer, eldorado just scream cool. I wish they'd bring it back. The last couple of albums were too mellow. I think that's why a lot of (older) fans felt somehow underwhelmed by their recent releases.
