One Artist for you to React to: TOMMY BOLIN. (Tommy, sadly passed away in 1976, at the Very Early Age of 25. Just as he was on the verge of becoming Big. Stupidly, He OD'ed!! :( :( I was 17, he was My 1st Guitar Hero, and My Entire World was Rocked Hard for A Long While. Check Out: My Favorite: "Wild Dogs" and "Dreamer" both off of his 1st solo CD "Teaser". Also, "Post Toastee" from his 2nd/last solo album: "Private Eyes". IF you are Into/Like Great Dynamics, then "Dreamer" is a song for you. From sparse, mellow and pretty to Rocking Out in a beat. Then-Boom- Right back to sweet and mellow. On "Post Toastee" Everyone in the band gets to Show Off A Little! :) I would suggest the studio versions/audio of all 3. Anyone of ALL of you out there AGREE with me? @Hollylivengood3 жыл бұрын
Loved that too. But I think most chess players wouldn't get it either unless they had played Bughouse. It's a team chess game with four players playing in two man teams. You don't "capture for the queen to use" unless you are playing this way where you are capturing pieces specifically to hand off to your partner - and he is stalking to capture pieces for you- and everyone is doing this back and forth until only one king is captured. So eventually most of your soldiers used to be your enemy, you know? You and your opponent are one and the same, and you happened to capture A king. You are literally surounded by not yourself if you want to win, and the only thing that makes the enemy the enemy is that someone said so, and that can change by a word. This song has so many layers it's crazy.

I was brought up listening and being taken by my father to Yes, Genius, and King Crimson shows. As well as listening to everything from oldschool jazz, classic rock, classic metal(Black Sabbath), African Drumming, Indian drumming. This is one thing my dad did perfectly with me. I learned to play tabla drums in 33/17 time by the age of 9. I hope someone understands what im talking about.

@@anonymouslyanonymous4673 That would have been quite an experience as they were going to do half the show performing Relayer ( jazzy, and really out there-and an album I never thought I would see, ever, performed live ) Steve and "the boys" have taken me on journies I had thought I had missed out on. I am always front row for most shows now. All the guys know/remember me. Geoff Downes calls me by name, which is pretty amazing as I first saw and heard him as a Buggle on Mtv performing Video Killed the Radio Star. He had a great project with John Wetton, Icon, with three albums. He's still doing great work, album #4 coming out soon with Chris Braide, Downes Braide Association. I recommend both of those groups. I feel really sorry for musicians and artists now with Covid. Was fortunate to take my wife and kid to France and Germany last year. I have zero regrets spending all that money, considering the way the world is pretty shut down now. :-( Even took a Zepplin ride last year. Life is short. Enjoy every day!

This the best part of the internet. I watch several reaction folks who hear a song for the first time and get to enjoy it. However, when these songs were released, it was a different time, there was no instantaneous way of learning the songs lyrics (a lot of songs have words that are undistinguishable or we heard them wrong or were in a certain mindset, etc.) and depending upon your age, awareness of your surroundings, and your maturity level the songs held different meaning throughout. That’s even true now with the reactions of folks here as the younger folks are generally just having fun, weren’t we all?, while those older and mature dig deeper into the songs. The most interesting song I have watched hundreds of reactions to is Disturbed’s cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence”. In that one, so many people related to song in so many different ways depending on their life experiences and even faith. Your reaction to this song was sweet and you shared a personal bit of your life. You know you are hearing a really great song when you can relate to it personally even if the song was written as something entirely different. And this is true about all words we speak to each other; we can never really know what might be heard because we all have different perspectives due to our experiences in life. So, gotta love your message. In our complex world, we all need good people, so satisfied. I’m on my way.

I always thought, interpreted "I've seen all good people turn their heads each day, so satisfied. I'm on my way, is saying...Every day (all the time) people who are decent human beings, turn a blind (compassion-less) " eye to the needs, the suffering of members of people whom they don't consider to be members of their families, groups, communities, cliques, etc, pleased & content with their "goodness." I never got the anti-war bit until, after vinyl, 8-tracks, and Cassettes went the way of the dodo and I began listening to music a; digitally, b; through head phones, & c; loudly (the hisses and pops made b; & c; uncomfortable for me) and in amazement, 1st, perceived the seeming tributes to Lennon and/or the Fab Four, especially the obvious anti-war references. (I am exhausted and have been forming this comment which is vastly longer than I intended and I am having difficulty both staying awake and following through in devoloping anything like a valid, rational point. I hope I have made something like an intelligible statement. Oh, and now that you have done this, which I have requested, I think, at least 3 times, I would renew my request for a reaction to The Circus Of Heaven. You are the best, my brother, Jamal.
