What goes up, must come down. And it's those downs that we really want.🙂 EMTBs actually make climbing just as fun too. My mind was blown when I first experienced an EMTB.🤯😍

E mountain bike is far more fun easier up hills no straining the knees but more miles on an e mountain bike
@Dannyjones12 жыл бұрын
I urge all MTB riders to try a an EMTB. I was very sceptical at first, but with a dodgy knee that flares up on MTBs, those days are gone with my EMTB. So satisfying when you fly up steep terrains in no time at all. ⚡️🙏

I had knee surgery when I was 18 (about 18 years ago). Mountain biking was getting harder and harder with a few days of recovery time after rides. E-MTB changed that, I can ride more with less strain on my knees, win win situation.

Hey Danny! We'd echo that! It's great how riding an e-bike has kept you loving the sport! 👊

Having been a life long cyclist now on the wrong side of 70 The E MOUNTAIN BIKE. IS probably the best commuter bike anyone could buy. I have tried the small wheel electric bike but they are wobbly on downhill sections. Mountain bikes are much more stable especially on the road amongst traffic. The added advantage is you can go off road with the E Mountain bike and keep up with the grandchildren.

I'm 57 and a long time Toronto bush rider. I had health issues and my long-time riding lads were simply too fast... so I got an e-bike (2022 Levo SL) and I'm riding again with my fast friends. An E-bike means there's no excuse NOT to ride. 160 bush rides 2022 and 224 moving hours. My best year was in 2009 and I clocked 220 hours for the entire year. Also, zero difference in effort, HR is redlining just as much. You just go faster!!!

I ride the same technical trails on my e-bike - will go about 20% further and my average heart rate is 20bpm lower. Best part is even after big rides, no problem getting back on it the next day.

You nailed with the first one, time is huge for me. I can double the amount of miles I ride after work, when I only have about an hour to ride.
@ribinrobin89252 жыл бұрын
I got both and I’m a big ebike fan. However they do just flatten trails, everything’s a bit more dull on ebike. You don’t notice it until you swap back to your mtb. Most my ebike mates are larger and when I ride with them they still get puffed even on the eebs.

Only problem is when I go riding on my ebike with my mates on normal mtb on the tracks we ride they are all completely spent after an hour and I'm still riding for a hour and a half after that, need to find more mates with ebikes

I have both, but seldom use the MTB now, however, the amount of issues Ive had with the EMTB is too many. Also, if you need to be careful in water with the EMTB , that means they are not fully fit for purpose, reliability issues are not good enough. Also, i use a bike rack with both and have no issue

I'm in my early early 50s and have dipped my toe in the emtb pond but always go back to my full bouncer non ebike. I'm quit fit for my age & see a hill climb as a challenge. Don't need the extra weight sorry guys
@rickywoods31012 жыл бұрын
If I want a big challenge I just turn it way down or off to climb for an even more of a challenge than a regular mtb . When I'm by myself I'll turn it all the way up and ride as hard and fast as I can and get even a better full body workout than my normal mtb along with getting more air and having more fun.
@leeteemtb95872 жыл бұрын
@@rickywoods3101 Too much to go wrong for me on an ebike when your out on the trails plus battery anxiety. I get where your coming from but personally I like the feel of an acoustic bike. I know everyone’s a critic.

Got no health issue but am past the age of enjoying going in the red. For me eMTB is all about enjoying the terrain, not suffering the elevation. You can have fun on a narrow gully of a climb giving you a bit of a sweat as well as enjoying a downhill trail like everyone else. Pure pleasure. The price equivalent full carbon light MTB would still be too heavy for anything steep for me. For long distance riding on easy trails, a gravel bike works better for me than a MTB and I can put road wheels when on it as most of my riding is road club rides. So Full sus eMTB + gravel bike with a road wheel set is the ideal mix for me.

Before I dive in this topic: Ebikes are rad and I love them because they can level out fitness levels 😝 my cousin would not be riding with me due to his knees without his eBike 😍 Though, I would say that a fit non ebiker can cope with all the disadvantages you named in favour of Ebikes. I don't mind climbing for hours and I enjoy winter riding through every puddle and muddy section. On top I love riding in all kinds of snowy conditions. Sure, you need the right kit like mud tyres or even spiked tyres 💪🏾 I do and they are brilliant 😎 Sure, I would not mind an eBike. Especially the light Ebikes catch my attention 🤩 but there is still the price. I might go and get a conversion kit 🧐
@yodapig2 жыл бұрын
I'd save your money with regard to a conversion kit - when the time comes, you're much better off getting a proper integrated e-mtb with a mid-drive pedal-assist motor from an established manufacturer.

I love both, full stop, both have a place. A big thing for me is the carbon footprint. The inconvenient truth is that batteries, motors, electronics, all have a FAR bigger footprint than regular bikes, and the industry as a whole is already not great with single-life carbon frames being the standard. For me, if you *need* an MTB, either having physical challenges, or live in the big mountains, then ebikes are great. Otherwise, in today's world, I can't see the justification, and with some fitness and application you can have as much, or even more fun on an analogue bike. EMTB fans will predictably reply in predictable ways, but like I say, just being pragmatic to state the truth of the matter. We don't live in a world where we can ignore the footprint of our lives anymore. Bottom line, right bike for the right need, not eMTBs for everyone. Peace out, happy trails ✌🏼

I don't think any eMTB deals with the winter sticky clay in Sussex - it sticks to the tyre treads, gets into the chain links, clogs the mech. Several times I have had to push the bike to a stream and wash the mud out with freezing water. But if I wasn't on an eMTB, I wouldn't have been riding in those conditions 🤣
