This recent remaster was actually only a partial job due to other commitments and time constraints. Part of the 'Return of the Sorceror's Apprentice' project, most of the effort was put into remastering the audience sources. However we gave this 'matrix mix' version a bit of added atmosphere and 'feel' which I hope comes over here. This is hopefully one we shall return to in the future - unless of course it comes out officially in perfect sound quality (dream on).
Part two to follow.

So just to confirm Ian, this is a remaster of the Pre-FM (Wolfgang's vaults) and Dan Lampinski's excellent audience recording matrix that was put together by Balrog and RMCH? Excellent job btw. thanks

Never want to hear how Alan White was a step down for this band ever again. What an amazing drum performance! Edit: Also thank you Ian and team for a really good scrub on this audio. I've heard the source material and yikes is it messy!

A REQUEST FROM BALROG AND RMCH (obviously ignored by Ian Hartley) This matrix release is intended for free distribution among those who enjoy listening to Yes music. We emphatically condemn anyone who would: * make a profit by selling it to ignorant music collectors * replace these notes with the sort of misinformation commonly found in “silver” bootleg releases * convert it to MP3 or any other audio format that involves “lossy” compression * attempt to improve or disguise the sound quality by “remastering” it

@@ianhartley2158 No, only that you're the kind of scumwad who's universally despised in the global unreleased music sharing community because you pretend to be the source of a recording when you've done nothing other than to put it on KZbin. You don't acknowledge the people who actually put their time, effort, and resources into creating the recording and you don't even point out that it can be downloaded from Forgotten Yesterdays as well as The Trader's Den. Boston Garden 12/11/74 was an FM broadcast and has been made into dozens of bootlegs, all of which are missing Ritual because it was omitted from the broadcast. I was there at Boston Garden. It was my first Yes concert. RMCH and I went to the effort to find the only complete, professional quality recording of the concert, including Ritual, and to make a matrix from it by combining the professional source with Dan Lampinski's audience recording. I wrote the PDF file that explains everything about the project. You claim to have "remastered" it. If that's true, you've offended RMCH by remastering a concert that's already been remastered, which was stated clearly and plainly in the info file. Only dirtballs remaster other people's remasters without permission. You may claim to be clueless about all this, but from my standpoint, you're only a tad less loathsome than the criminals who sell "silver" bootlegs.

I guess I am in breach of your rules by attempting to remaster the sound and putting it out free on KZbin. I am genuinely sorry to see this offends you. We have no wish to do that. The source was actually a Japanese bootleg cd I collected some years ago but I now recognise their source was yours. I would just say that we should never give up on the search for better sound, especially i suppose as concerns the yes archive where we are forced to seek out and seek to improve unofficial recordings due to the lack of official releases

@@ianhartley2158 They're not my rules, unless you're addressing the entire global community of people who share unreleased recordings with absolutely no money involved, not even a penny. Those of us who put a great deal of ourselves into those recordings know that there's a price to pay for sharing the music, one that includes our recordings being made into bootlegs by criminals. For the most part, the recording industry ignores bootlegs because the revenue involved is trivial in comparison to counterfeit recordings of commercial releases, made in countries that either have no copyright laws or don't enforce them. It's been a well known fact for decades that when a new album is released in the US, there will be virtually indistinguishable copies for sale by street vendors in other countries, particularly Asian countries, within a day or two. It's a huge industry. The important point here is NOT that whoever made and sold that Japanese bootleg is a criminal and that you're furthering that criminal activity by posting it on KZbin. The point is that certain people put a serious effort into creating that recording. You should have known that it would be recognized and that someone would be highly offended by it. For the record, these are the parties that deserve credit: * The King Biscuit Flower Hour for making the recording, broadcasting it, and for storing the non-SQ-encoded sources where they wouldn't be destroyed by fire. * Dan Lampinski for making the audience recording that lets us hear what Patrick Moraz played during that concert and, most importantly, for capturing the entire concert. * Kev and Carl for sharing Dan's recordings with the world. * RMCH, who prefers to remain anonymous, for having the skill and the incredible patience needed to make a multi-source matrix recording. * Myself for finding a way to get a high-resolution copy of the non-SQ-encoded professional recording.

Having yes play outside in the daytime doesn't seem right. Their stage set back then was legendary but didn't work in daylight as it was all about the light and shade. It wasn't designed to work in daylight.
