We should all appreciate every incarnation of Yes because I don't expect too many bands in the coming years to be of their ilk. This type of progressive rock (REAL progressive rock) is a dying art form, and I'll take every bit of it as long as I can get it.

On the one hand, it's sad that there are no original members. On the other, it keeps the music fresh. As you say this type of music is a dying art form. :)

Benoit David on lead vocals did a fantastic job. Knew him from his work with the band Mystery which all 3 albums he did with them are stellar. This is a great album. Yes is an incarnation of many different people since their inception where many fans just can't past that the group changes members whether they wanted to or not. Every album is different which is a good thing whether or not you like every album is a different story.

Excellent album from A to Z, highly recommended to everyone who loves nice melodies and a arts & crafts approach by all musicians and the singer. Better than the latest output, which is still melodic, but with less overwhelmingly good compositions and here and there even things that suspiciously sound like uninspired fill ups.

Bands that keep going for a long time, as Yes has, change over time. But somehow they still managed to keep a certain core sound and identity that was recognizably the same group that did songs like Roundabout and Close To the Edge. It's not the same, but it's still Yes.
@gedofgont1006 Жыл бұрын
Sort of. But without Jon Anderson it's never quite the real deal. I'd like to see Anderson, Howe, Bruford, Wakeman and Tony Levin get together again, for one last tour. It'll never happen, of course, but I can dream!

@Sirrom5 I would say he's the musical muscle of the band, while Jon is/was the soul. I like the album, the same way I like Starcastle's almost successful attempts to sound like Yes. Yes without Jon, is in certain way, still YES, , but Yes with Jon is YESPECTACULAR.
@CaseyVan13 жыл бұрын
@MrJohnnyace777 It's got a couple nice tracks. The last track is really cool, and the lyrics are something to pay attention to. The new singer doesn't try to sound like Jon. He does try to sound like Trevor on Fly from Here of course, and pulls it off except he has a slight accent. Steve howe's acoustic guitar solo is one of his best in a long time, there is much to get from that one. It's probably the best thing they have done since Big Generator, but I'm more of a Howe listener.
