Everything a Norma Talmadge movie should be - the melodrama, the pathos, the overacting - simply delightful!

Thanks for uploading this rare exciting silent movie!I have been to see the Talmadge sisters crypt chamber very ornate with stained glass windows in one of the Mausoleums in Hollywood Forever Memorial Cemetery. The Talmadge sisters, Norma, Natalie, Constance were top players in the early cinema.

Enjoy these silent gems; wonderful quality and actors of a bygone era!

Thanks for making this available for viewing! I had read about this film, but I didn't realize that Natalie was in this, too. Looks like she had a pronounced overbite? Maybe she was just photographed at a bad angle. She looked a lot prettier in "Our Hospitality". Interesting plot overall, but the "poor" family scenes makes the entire film worth watching.

I never knew about this Norma Talmadge film until I read about it a week ago on a foreign blog on silent films. I was hoping to see it one day, and then I found your newest upload! I especially loved Norma playing dual roles as wealthy but neglected wife Margaret Vane and as hard working housewife Minnie “Min” Berry. A great supporting cast with Rockcliffe Fellowes as Min’s hard working husband, Natalie Talmadge (Sister of Norma) as Emma, the devoted personal maid to Margaret. Lowell Sherman as usual plays a rake in his role as “Derreck” and Gladden James as the taxi driver and tenement boarder who desires Min. Thank You for uploading this excellent film! 😉

As a fan of the Talmadge sisters Norma and Constance, whose films have sadly been neglected by TCM although a good number of their silent films survive. I would really like to see Constance’s comedy A Pair of Silk Stockings (1918) with Harrison Ford (1884-1957) once again as it’s no longer on KZbin. And also Norma with Eugene O’Brien in The Safety Curtain (1918).

What 'rights issues' or other rea 2:40 son could there be for blocking a film that's over 100 years old? Maybe Jacqueline Stewart at TCM could help get some of these blocked silents on the air.
