I remember watching Yes in the Boston Garden in 1979. They opened with this song on the round stage. I was just 10 rows away, I was mesmerized.

I remenber YES many years ago in Rome. They opened the show with this song but, due the terrific acoustic on Palasport concrete-made, i never heard the bass...then tecnicians modified something to have a good concert...
@M400fan Жыл бұрын
They should have reversed the track order on CTTE - this has “album opener” written all over it - and concert opener too! Steve’s riff here is one of his best ever! Great cover!

Impressive. People don't realize the skill & complexity of The phenomenal Steve Howe. Enjoyed your playing.

I don't think I've ever met someone who hears Howe era Yes and said "that doesn't sound too hard"
@lohollywood1f4283 жыл бұрын
I'm trying to play Heart of the Sunrise and Howe's playing is really weird, his picking style is really confusing to get down and his phrasing of riffs are hard to get down at some times, especially when its doubled by organ and getting in sync with it.

Why did KZbin wait nearly 7 years to recommend this to me? Truly a superlative rendition! But now imagine singing the harmonies at the same time...even Howe has said he has a great deal of difficulty doing so.

Nice job. This is a perfect demonstration of why Bill Bruford called Yes compositions "head arrangements." What made the band so great is how they made playing a song like this sound so effortless.

It is a pity that you will never be appreciated enough since even the Steve Howe himself could not get the appreciation he deserved.. for me he is the best guitarist ever. His ability of playing and composing is way beyond every guitar players and even guitarists you can name of. Well played July!

Agree, Steve is the best. The way he fuses jazz and rock and effortlessly meanders around the fret board with jazz cords between time signatures (as if he's pondering what to play next or just improvising) is truly amazing. Even infusing rockabilly. For all his talent, he never lets you forget that his music has humble beginnings and it's a shame he's under appreciated. Masterful composer. Siberian Khatru is grounded in rock while at the same time, the lap steel transports you into a different world. You captured the song as it spoke to me after all these years. You have a great talent - thank you!

Isolation of instruments shows how each member of Yes served the song, and Siberian Khatru is easily the best example, since it's one of the most logically assembled of all YesSongs. There was no lead guitar break, but Steve was playing lead throughout! It can be argued that the lead instrument is the bass! But again, Chris served the song by playing what it required.

Very accurate and great tones you have... Sad that there is 4 thumbs down from jealous haters with no skills. Their thumbs down is their way of crying in frustration.
