@nickavenoso78512 жыл бұрын
I miss him too. We lost Chris and then Neil. They are the only two musicians that have driven me to tears after learning about their passing. I say that a lot, but it’s the truth. I cried my eyes out after hearing that Chris passed away and same thing with Neil. They both touched me not just as a musician, but as a human. Their music touched the soul. RIP to The Professor and to The Fish. I hope Chris is jamming with Neil up there. Can’t believe it’s been almost 7 without Chris and 2 years without Neil. Just makes me sad that they’re gone. Neil would’ve been 70 and Chris would’ve been 74 today.🥁🥁

As your original version, your work here is a technical tour de force! You are apparently the only person in all of KZbin-dom, as far as I can tell, that has presented the audio from this memorable and spectacular show I was so fortunate to attend back in the day. As for matching Moraz's solo; that would be impossible, as he always changed it up with a different improvisation each time. The complexity of your work and the dedication to complete it does not go unrecognized nor unappreciated!
@PetersPianoShoppe4 жыл бұрын
This is either a fantastic demonstration of your syncing skills or a testament to how completely on-point Yes were with their tempos from show to show back then. Actually likely both.

Superb in-concert video of this Yes masterpiece! This video supplants the botched and inferior sound & version on the Yes 'yesofficial' channel here on KZbin. Thank you very much for providing this excellent and best live sound/recording & video of Sound Chaser!

How(e) amazing is it that you can dub music from one performance onto another one and Steve's fingers match up almost perfectly, with *no* click track, sequencers, nothing but talent. This is GDMFing amazing.
@IYAMNI2 жыл бұрын
I wish it had been that easy. haha. Actually I had to speed up or slow down the aduio during the course of the song to match it up as precisely as possible. The only thiing I couldn't match was Patricks solo. You're right that Steve plays the same solo, (because it's not just a solo but a composed part of the song) but it isn't exactly note per note. My trick was having the wave forms for the original QPR audio open in the edit and then just visually matching the wave forms by stretching or shrinking the new audio to fit. You're right that Yes did not use click tracks so their live performances varied from show to show... like music made by HUMANS is supposed to! haha. The easiest one to match was Gates Of Delirum, which they played almost exactly the same and required only minor tweeks.
@davep82212 жыл бұрын
@@IYAMNI well holy crap dude, 1000 thumbs up. So, amazing in another way. I'm so glad you told me. It's nice to know when to give praise. KZbin editing it's truly an art form and engineering combined. Thanks!

The video has never looked better. Although the audio from QP we are stuck with, sucked especially on this track: It is still a little unnerving hearing audio from a concert recorded a full year after the video was shot. But if this helps to make more palatable and bring the greatness of this era of Yes to the masses, more power to ya. You are doing the Lord's work.

I think it was '74... or '75... can't remember... whenever the first Relayer tour was. A close friend and I went to see Yes in San Diego. I was a kid and it was my first Yes show. My friend was a total Squire head. Had a brand new Rick and equalizer (which were pretty new at the time) and he knew a bunch of Yes tunes, had the Squire sound down and all that, So we got there early and went to the loading dock to try and get a glimpse of the band coming in. Total fanboy stuff. We were standing by the ramp that went into the arena, watching the limos pass by. But we never saw anyone. After about 15 minutes we figured we'd missed them. We turned to walk away and amazingly, standing right behind us talking to two adoring female fans was Chris Squire. He'd been standing right near us all the while we were looking over the ramp. haha! At that time in our lives it was like meeting royalty. We said a few nice things about how much we loved the band and he shook our hands and said a few gracious things back. I think we were too surprised to ask for autographs. Of course the show was amazing. My friend was in heaven for about a week. That's the only time I met Squire. I love this band in all its incarnations. And Chris was in every one of them. RIP. See you on the other side, so I can finally get that autograph. :-)

Gastón Fernandez I only did the Relayer tracks because they were really bad on the QPR disc. Close To The Edge is in the first set with bad audio, but it would be a bit of a nightmare because the entire opening is improvisation. I would have to find a comparable track and take a lot more time to fix than I have. The audio for Roundabout on the QPR DVD is good. The entire second set is ok actually.

Faster moment spent spread tales of change within the sound, Counting form through rhythm electric freedom Moves to counterbalance stars expound our conscience All to know and see the look in your eyes. Passing time will reach as nature relays to set the scene, New encounters spark a true fruition, Guiding lines we touch them, our bodies balance out the waves As we accelerate our days to the look in your eyes. From the moment I reached out to hold, I felt a sound, And what touches our soul slowly moves as touch rebounds. And to know that tempo will continue Lost in trance of dances as rhythm takes another turn, As is my want, I only reach to look in your eyes. You sir, are what makes this life great! I have been on YT since 06 and I remember seeing this first uploaded...It was terrible but it was the only live recording I had ever seen of Sound Chaser...You did an AMAZING job...You are a true Hero to the Yes fan.

The audio is NOT from the 1976 Roosevelt Stadium concert. You can tell, because at 5:00, during Steve's solo, he tamps down on the strings, during that second run.
@IYAMNI8 жыл бұрын
Yes it is from the Roosevelt concert and if you listen carefully you will notice the particular lick you are talking about is an exact repeat of the first one. That's because I copied the first one and and dubbed it over the second lick, which was an octave higher and I wanted to match the visual. That's only one of the little changes I had to make to try and match the video to the audio.

Fun fact: This song caused my bad acid trip in college. Specifically the guitar solo. It was all wonderful (set and setting) until then. But everything changed with the key change. Weird, huh? I suffered depression and anxiety for a year or so afterwards, but have been fine for decades since then. And I love this song!
@IYAMNI Жыл бұрын
For a whole year!... that's an intense reaction. I love this song but I wouldn't want to hear it while tripping. A little chaotic. I never had a song ruin an acid trip, but ZZ Top was really getting on my nerves during some shrooms way back in '75 or so. So I asked if I could change the music. Party host said go ahead, so I dug through his collection and found Todd Rundgren's self-titled double album. I thought that would be cool to trip on. I was wrong. haha. I think we finally settled on Paul MacCartney's first solo album.... which sounds very different on shrooms.

@IYAMNI5 жыл бұрын
@@deanbagdasarian8122 Yes, Steve treated the Soundchaser solo like a classical piece, always played it the same way with little variation. So all I had to do was mess with the tempo a bit here and there, and once I had to cut and paste a segment because he plays it up an octave on the NJ version, but otherwise it's almost exact. With Pattrick's solo I had to actually cut out a few bars. QPR solo is longer and there was no real way to match it. Gates on the other hand is an almost note prefect rendering. I mean the band. Apart from a little stretching, almost everything fell into place. Happy you enjoyed it. (Edit: I meant Patrick's NJ solo was longer so I had to cut audio. If the QPR solo had been longer I would have been screwed. haha)
