Hey James! Great review- I'm really trying to decide between the YES Standard, Standard Uninc, and Jones Frontier. All are on sale right now and both seem great, so I'll give you some details so you can help quickly decide what would be best for me: I've been boarding for several years, and I would consider myself a solid intermediate rider, looking for a progressive one-board-quiver that I'll be able to use for a while to come. I ride exclusively in the PNW, and although I primarily ride freeride, I'm really interested in a reliable board that I can also use well for jumps, side hits, and tricks when the opportunity presents themselves- mainly focused on jumping/freeride though. I also LOVE pow days when they come up, frequently ride uneven snow, and absolutely love being fast and bombing on groomers. Response, stability, and dampness both slow/fast are super important, since I like feeling in control on more sketch terrain or high speeds. And the more fun choice couldn't hurt. As for my stats, I'm 6'1 / 185 cm, shoe size 12, and weigh just north of 200 pounds / 91 kilo. My bindings are the Union Atlas! I heard the YES standard / uninc were great for jumps and overall fantastic one-board-quivers, but it feels like nobody has anything bad to say about the frontier either. Based on what I said, what are your thoughts? Which board do you think would be best for me / what length of said board would be best? Cheers- first time buying a new board for myself.

Thanks and right on. Jones Frontier 161w or 164w is the better call for you because the Standards aren't very stiff or good at going super fast. The Frontier is a lot stiffer and better for what you described. I'd go 161w if you want more control and more of a side hit friendly ride. Go 164w if you want something better at speed and in pow.

@@thegoodridesnow Got it! Do you think the yes standard is significantly better in anything else (pow, jumps) to make up for the slower speed, or is the frontier just super solid all around?

Standard Uninc has a little better grip in hard snow, butters much easier, has better pop/ollie power but it floats about the same or a touch less than the Frontier if you set it all the way back. My concern for you is the softer flex since you like to bomb.

I’m 5’7, 175 pounds, and a size 10 boot. Should I be the 153 or 156?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 6 ай бұрын
It depends on what make/model/size/year board do you ride now and how do you like it? If you like a smaller/easy to contol ride the 153 is the call as it matches better with your height but works for your boots. The 156 is better for your weight and more than managable with 10 US boots but will feel a good bit bigger.

In the written review you mention that the 162 would be adapted for sizes 12-13 and the 167 for sizes 13-14 while actually the 167 in not wider (a hair narrower) than the 162.

Shit! sorry! Also thanks for reading the review. I thought I had that edited but only did it for the Standard Uninc. I would keep both sizes in the 12-13 range and you might be able to go a little bigger depending on your boots footprint and stance angles.

Yeah size 12-13 sounds right for the width and the effect of the mid-bite.

Love your videos. I’m an upper level intermediate to advanced rider in the Canadian Rockies. 165 lb and size 10 boots. Currently ride a k2 Raygun and looking for something with a bit more pop and grip but still allow me to progress with a focus on tight tree riding, all mountain freestyle, riding switch and keeping up with skiers on mogul fields. I don’t really care about laying a perfect carve or bombing. I liked the sounds of the ride Shadowban based on reviews for the freestyle side but this board seems like it fits my specs perfectly in a 153 and would be better for pow days. Any thoughts or alternatives? Thanks

Thanks! What is your height and what size Raygun do you have now? Also if you hit me up here I can help you much better than I can with the limited info I get on YT. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

Would you recommend this for a 1 board quiver for a 40y old experienced rider who likes resort riding looking for side hits and pow patches? Between this and a Jones Mt Twin.

Yes this or the Standard Uninc would be a great choice if it fits your boot size, weight and height. I need at least those three things at least to even come close to helping. If you want real, in depth and accurate advice hit me up here shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

Thanks for the video! I'm an upper-intermediate rider, 5'7", 174 lb, 9.5 boots. All mountain, no park. I was looking for a one-board quiver, and yesterday, based on the board's specifications, I bought a Yes Standard 153 but I'm a bit concerned that I might have gone too short for floating, edge hold, and stability. I considered a 156, but its waist size seemed excessive for "normal" edge changes. After watching your video, I'm more confident that 153 is the right size for me. What do you think? Is there something I may not have considered? Should I have opted for the 156? Thanks!

No problem. Yeah this is a good fit for your boot size and height. It's borderline for your weight but I think overall you will be ok. I personally think you would have liked the Standard Uninc but I would keep it and see how it plays out for ya.

@@thegoodridesnow Standard Uninc was one option but I had doubts for its "traditional" camber on fresh snow. In case, what size would you reccommend for me with the Standard Uninc? 153 or 156? Thanks again!

Yeah I hate the way they marketed that board. It's actually got some early rise. 153 would work better.

Not knowing anything about your specs or how you ride I'm going to guess and say Basic Uninc.

Thanks for the nice vid mate. Can the yes standard plow through chunder well enough (i live in australia, wet heavy choppy snow)? Or do i need to go for the standard uninc? Im after a board that can plough choppy groomers but still hit some pow overseas.Would prefer the standard over uninc if i can get away with it. Also happy to consider sizing up a standard from 156 to 159 if that helps. I weight 83kg/185 lbs, size 10 boots.Thanks again

@@thegoodridesnownks for the reply im 173cm tall, im a strong intermediate/advanced rider. I currently ride a typo 156 wide. I want to step up, power through the crud.

No problem. If you ride the 156w Typo you might really like the 156w Yes Basic Uninc too. Basically a super high end version of the Typo with a better core, faster base and far better all around ride. Check my review on that. I think the Standard might not be ideal coming from the Typo. Less camber and a touch softer feel on snow. The Standard Uninc 156 could work too. Both are a little big for your height but a great fit for your boot size and weight.

This is my daily driver in 153 and I am thinking on switching to the Greats 151 for next season. I am 5'.7" 150lbs size 10 boots. How would you compare them in terms of playfulness and mild jibbing?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
You get a little more camber with the Greats and an asym twin that rides switch better. Flex is similar. You loose directional float in powder though so if you set your board back in pow don't get rid of the Standard. Keep em both and build a quiver or get something even more directional for powder days.
