Installing Mighty Mule FM143 On My 371W Gate Opener! No Directions for installing a fm143 so I figured out a way to wire it to make it work on the 371W and other Series not listed in Directions!

You did a workaround and I applaud you because you at least got your gate lock working but KZbinr anonymous changed to wires from was the mighty mule manual schematic shows. Their hook up drawing is absolutely wrong. I approved it because I tried for two days to get it to work Hooking by BBC b up per their drawing and all I had to do was reverse the wires on pin 3 and 4. Now when you use your remote to open the gate, it immediately unlocks, and then re-locks about 2 feet into its swing to full open. I’m sure the reason for this is to conserve energy or because the gate lock is normally in the locked position with no power. When you close the gate, as it is approaching the closed position it opens the lock and closes again when it stops. The gate is now locked, and the power is off. With this tells me is that mighty mule did not even do beta testing when they created the diagram. Very bad.

Thank you, this was my main reason for this video, everything was so confusing and I couldn't figure out the directions, so I brainstormed how I could get it to open and close with the remotes, cell and Keypad! And fortunately it turned out great and works even better! I'm just glad to help others with my diy how to channel on everything from installing a toilet to milking a goat to making a gate work🤣! Look closely at the diagram on pages 24-25, as this step on page 25 works perfectly as expected/described with no errors. **Automatic Gate Lock (FM143) NOTE: A wire jumper is required between 'LOCK V-' and 'LOCK Relay Common'. The additional circuit board is not needed. Also, the reason many folks have isses configuring the MMS100 is because the manufacturer failed to include internal parts/(an adapter) that completes the connection on both antennas, (MMS100/Main Control Box). If you call them, they will help troubleshoot and send this out free of charge. They will text you a clickable link that allows them to access your smart phone camera and see what you see. that's a great idea to run it to the gate arm 12v + . I have an LED light, attached to 12v through a SWITCH that is on the board. The switch is CLOSED while the ARM is on. My model is WRANGLER. I'm thinking of using the switch because the light is low current, so adding the lock should be OK. Do we know the power (watts) or current, @12v, this lock requires? Don't want to go over-current on these terminals.. Its sort of AMAZING they have LOCK V+ and V- which you discovered are ALWAYS ON. Might as well connect to the battery (though a fuse of course) and forget the board entirely if all you want it 12v all the time. Makes ya wonder what MIGHTY MULE is thinking when then label these boards? What good is continuous 12v on a LOCK?

Definitely but even in that aspect the gate is just a deterrent, if someone really wanted to they could just climb over the gate that's why it's good to have cameras and home security system plus the good old fashioned 2nd amendment!😂

Lock - to fourth slot (lock NO), lock + to sixth slot (lock v+) and a jump wire from third slot (lock C) to seventh slot (lock v-). This is the instructions from the mm143 gate lock that had a copyright date from 2021. Hope this was helpful.

I hooked mine up, exactly how Randy said to do it, but it doesn’t work. It’s almost backwards. I’m going to try the White House method tomorrow and if it works, I’m not using the jumper. Mighty mule customer service is nonexistent, I have emailed and called them, and no reply to either.

This doesn't work because the latch is momentary so it opens then shuts before the gate opens. Thus shutting off the opener due to it relocking before it moves. Thats why you use the FM143 board which allows you to adjust the timing on the gate lock, so yeah make a new video dude.
