My BOB is belted into my truck. And duplicated in smaller kits throughout it as well, to be used as a GHB. Being a Nomad, my home is also a BOB. My EDC is uncomfortably a GHB just in case I'm not at my truck in an emergency. But that doesn't happen often. Something that I don't see people putting in their bags is medications. If you are going to be bugging out, or trekking to get home you may need them. Also in my FAK, I keep a few benadryl in case of allergy attacks. Have saved a couple lives because of this.

Having medications in the bags is an excellent tip. I'm going to add mine.

I like the book recommendations. I think I have Bushcraft 101 on my bookshelf. I built my bag the same way. It started as a basic 72 hour bag back in the 90s and evolved into Frankenstein's monster over the last 25 years. Great video! keep it up!

2 things I would add is some one a day vitamins and a silver sun shade for a wind shields for sleeping or sitting on. They weigh next to nothing
@MoonShadow748 ай бұрын
I personally wouldn't worry about vitamins as a bug out situation is designed for a short term escapade. The intention is to head to someplace safe where you can resume your vitamin intake. However, having a sun shading umbrella can be a life saver. I have stood by the side of the road in the desert for days at a time trying to gather a little respite from the searing agony of the sun by lurking in the shade of a lamp post on a freeway onramp trying to get back home. An umbrella would have been such a relief. Wind blown snow or hail could also be deterred by one. I now own two umbrellas. One for hiking and is specifically meant for sun block and another regular for rain or wind blown snow.
@whiskeybook8 ай бұрын
Maybe vitamin C. If you are stuck in the cold and wet for even a couple days, it could stave off a cold.

Look into the ar-6 stinger 2 repeating tactical crossbow. I have bodkin bolts and hunting arrows. The bodkin bolts can penetrate soft body arrow. Plus i wont run out of bullets.

Great vid. While I do tend to loathe the idea of electronics in a long term bag I'm considering adding a gyro powered radio/light with usb charging ports to my bag. For years I've carried a rather heavy gyro powered flashlight (as I don't like to carry things that will run out, like batteries, aerosols, lighters, etc.), but in recent years such gear now has charging ports for usb rechargeable toys. I used to have a gyro powered shortwave radio, but it got carried away in a drybag by a bear one day years ago, lol. Oh, and those roll-out solar battery packs are garbage. They will take days in full sunlight to regenerate anything worthwhile. So in short one gyro powered radio with light and usb charging ports can replace a lot of other gear.

I have my survival bag. It will be what is needed. Both short term and long term survival. If the power plants get hit im not surviving in my apartment. Im not lone wolfing it. Ill be searching for people and communes.
@whiskeybook8 ай бұрын
I would suggest setting up the commune first. If you try when things are going crazy the welcome party might not be too happy.

In my area there are gaps in the trees coverage. Even if you find yourself in a dense area, it doesn't take long to find an area you can get some sun.

Good stuff but would your pack be lighter without all the packaging on some of the things? Water is ESSENTIAL and a Grayl is the best thing I have found for making questionable sources perfectly drinkable. A Bug Out Bag is just as necessary as a Get Home Bag. They are just two variations built for different purposes.

So this is a bugout right? Never coming back? Stores are not open? Batteries will die unless you have them inside the headlight and you can charge them you might find a battery to do it. To carry battiers is a waste and glow sticks??? Do they run out?? Anything that runs out DOES NOT go into a bug out baf
