Yes it is, your Xsara Picasso - which I also have, was designed in the mid-80's and chucked at the World in 1989. So a 40 year old design. I think mine has bits it doesn't really need like electric windows all round, electric mirrors and alloy wheels but at 17 years old it still passes its MOT and does what it it was intended to do. I am now so ancient that I need something that I can fall in and out of. It's a case of Citroen getting something right first time and they did precious little to it in the 11 years they made it. 1 minor facelift, so minor that you need to own one to notice and new engines as available. They made well over 2 million of them on 4 continents and there are lots still around. I am amazed on TV news that sooner or later one will pop into shot . Sometimes less is more.

Just "Test Driven" the 2024 C5x....OUTSTANDING would be an understatement, perfection personified. I've been a hardened owner of Honda Vehicles for well over 22 years but I honestly believe that Honda has 'lost the plot', for want of a better phrase...the latest ZR-V is so 'Bland' it is literally unbelievable WHY Honda has adopted the principal of "let's see what we can get away with". Citroën however, with the new 'Parent' Company, has not only developed a fantastic Range of vehicle's, but they have adopted the correct Pricing Structure, unlike Peugeot surprisingly....and certainly NOT Honda ! Drive and comfort with the C5x is so refined it cannot be faulted. Love the content of your Review, exacting and informative...well done, G.A.R.

Big Citroens always leaned in corners and required some balls to drive them fast. They required balls not because they were dangerous. They required balls, because if the someone drove only german cars before, they'll be overwhelmed by the body movement at first. They're perfectly stable when leaning and after you reach dead point on the suspension. And with the hydropneumatic they were also perfectly stable when switching left to right and right to left. Big Citroens have to lean, thats what makes them THE CITROEN. I'm yet to test that Progressive Cushion thing and I hope it won't dissapoint me.

It should do well in China, both china and france have the same values with cars, electrical goods, cutlery, clothes, make things look good, but do it for as cheaply as possible but expensive at the same time!, make it last until just after the warranty period then make it breakdown or fall apart, with something quite serious and some what expensive to repair, (oh I know the cam shaft shattering) had both a Citreon and a Peugeot do just that because they decided to cut costs on the quality of the materials used when they designed and built it. Was told by a technician it's just what happens with our cars after being stranded on a motorway for hours. Also they should love the technology and electrical systems in China because they will like that they will have to bodge repairs if possible to the systems due to them just stopping or turning themselves off at any moment, some won't impede the car driving around but the digital dash is OK for the screen to turn off and go completely black, it's fine not knowing what speed your doing or ever being able to change the radio station again. But after 2 or 6 stops and trying to restart the car maybe! You might be lucky and it self repairs, which is a brilliant feature. If you do take it into Citreon or Peugeot to look at it they won't have a clue anyway so it a good thing it has the magic electrical repair feature. One thing I really like about french cars has to be the paint being sprayed on so thin that the whole nose will get chips and start flaking off with in months of owning one, but at least it will give it a typical French tatty car look quickly even if you did buy one brand new and gave serious consideration to selling your first born child into slavey to afford one. One minor thing they will like feature wise will be bits of trim or door handles coming away from the car leaving you holding them in your hand and not being able to get out of that particular door, but that's why the have other doors to climb in and out of and you can do that for months (fun for the whole family) because spare parts are made to order and take entire generations of families to get and replace but you can always use a bit of string to solve the issue. Also don't use anything but the tears of unicorns to clean the rather nice looking alloy wheels because if you use anything else including water they start to stain and then corrode because they have used the cheapest alloy material know to both mankind and alien species, but at least they looked nice when you first got it. So apart from a few issues they are fantastic cars and you really do have to experience a french car at least once in your life just to say you've lived a full life. I bet the Chinese are going to love these cars too.

I have had a C5 diesel since 2010. 190k in it. Mostly just regular maintenance. I have enjoyed immensely reading about the troubles that german drivers have had with dsg transmissions jerking, tsi turbos failing, timing chains breaking the engine, Audis burning oil like crazy. I considered a VAG car but dodged a bullet there. C5 has been comfortable and reliable. I have been checking new cars but I love my car, it works well. No real need to change. Audis look good but are expensive to repair. People who use a lot of money to those go into a trap and just have to pay. Only problem for me now is skyrocketing diesel price.
