It’s late 1973 and thru some meeting with someone I was made aware of Yes. Probably an older brother of a school friend of mine. He played this album Yessongs. For me it was like “The day the earth stood still” I bought it and in the basement of my parents I was taken to places I never knew existed. Time and time again. I was 16. Those 6 sides were a ticket to anywhere. I met the band backstage about 27 ago years because of a contest I won and yes they were a group of guys who were great to meet and a pleasure to talk to. I’m 67 now and there are still times I can feel that time again. Wonderful. Even now. Thank you gentlemen.

I saw Yes in 1971, and they were amazing! I still remember Chris Squire breaking a bass string (!) in the middle of a song. Amazing thing: the whole band stopped playing instantly, Steve Howe picked up his acoustic guitar and started playing Mood For A Day, a song they almost never played live! No more than 3 or 4 seconds form broken string to---a classic classical piece! Fast forward to present day. My son, just turned 20 and he was watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I heard Roundabout playing! I had to find out what that was. So what next? I end up getting hooked on JoJo, have seen all the videos with the entire JoJo story arc (I know the manga goes further), and I really like it. And my son bought the Yes album (that's right, vinyl) Fragile. He's now a big Yes fan, and digs lots of prog rock from that time period! Win-win!!

As a kid, listening to the studio version and the YESSONGS version, this one is the highest standard that could never be improved. This version and only this version is the kick ass version ever. If someone asked me to play Roundabout, this would be the version always to play. PERIOD. The way Rick and Steve are in Sync is the best.
@RedCityFormat9 жыл бұрын
Man this is a LIVE version and sounds just as great if not better than the recording. Puts modern bands to absolute shame. Mr. Squire, the world needs more musicians like you and in your honour I'm gonna surround myself with the bravest and most unafraid musicians I know.

One of the most talented bands, if not THE most talented Rock band ever; however I'm guessing that's Alan White on drums since he joined in 1972 right before this tour, and they didn't give him enough time to get worked in as he's out of meter at some places in this song. I read that he only got about 3 days to rehearse before they started the tour. It's actually quite amazing that he was able to do the tour & learn the songs that quickly.
