Yours Is No Disgrace
Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no disgrace.
Battleships confide in me and tell me where you are,
Shining, flying, purple wolfhound, show me where you are,
Lost in summer, morning, winter, travel very far,
Lost in losing circumstances, that's just where you are.
Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no,
Yours is no disgrace.
Yours is no disgrace.
Yours is no disgrace.
Battleships confide in me and tell me where you are,
Shining, flying, purple wolfhound, show me where you are,
Lost in summer, morning, winter, travel very far,
Lost in losing circumstances, that's just where you are.

The more Yes I watch, the more am I amazed by Steve Howe, and find myself wondering how he is not routinely mentioned as one of the top guitarists of the 70s. The application of jazz and chicken picking inflections into prog was utterly unique.

I have to say something - these guys were my first 'introduction' to what I recognised as musicians. They played as good, if not better, than their recordings, which at the time of this video was a big thing. Groups like Genesis moulded themselves on them. Chris Squires and Rick Wakeman along with Jon Anderson and Steve Howe became ledgends in the same vein as Eric Clapton. One must recognise talent for what it is, and these guys had it in abundance. 45 years later, I still enjoy their music.

I don't agree that Genesis moulded themselves on them. They both started about the same time. Genesis had a Pythonish sense of humor, and surrealism that Yes would never have. Not taking anything away from Yes. Yes rocked harder than they get credit for. If you said they both moulded themselves after King Crimson, I might buy that.

This is the dreadful Bluray version where, because the film was damaged, the engineers copped out and decided to just lose several seconds at the absolute climax of Steve's legendary solo (at 9:50), instead of doing the restoration job properly and finding material to fill the gap. I call that shoddy workmanship. The original VHS video release was completely uncut and is the only version worth watching, despite the picture quality.

I did fall in love with yes when hearing these songs and others from yessongs, back in the 70's. Either this is not the original song, Or they are modified like you say. I still have the original yessongs CD and the songs are much better. It is only audio, but the real performance, and the sound is much-much better. (these one made me angry at the Steve's solo) The 6 wives of Henry VIII, has some missing parts, too. But even this way, I really enjoyed seeing Wakeman playing the piano there, just amazing, my fav all time Keyboard player . jerry Thompson I am jealous. I was 4 YO when this came out. Too young. Wish I could have been there and enjoyed it. However I did see them on the Big Generator tour and they played a lot of classic stuff. They are touring now, going to make it a point to see them in TX. Old and late but better late then never.

I saw them in September of 1972. 7 of us drove 5 hours to see them in what is probably a small auditorium, the Armory building in Minneapolis. Each one of us remembers the concert as life changing. Even as I wrote that, it sounded frivolous to say a rock concert was life changing, but it was. I know those of us still alive could never attend another live concert and feel like it was the greatest ever. I attended 3 more Yes concerts, one with front row seats in 1975, but no other concert made me feel like I was in another dimension, like one with the music. They created magic

Steve could made that thang sound like a keyboard sometimes by sandwiching the sound between his style and his effects. They look like they were actually enjoying themselves. I watch some of these shows and I wonder. The ending was kinda harsh, though.

@@mawel1955 this is a musical technique that is used by a great guitarist , it’s like he’s searching for something ,can’t find it right away, then he finally finds it and takes off, that part only lasted during the Break in the middle of the solo, the rest is him playing normal , if you watch this whole concert video , he kills the whole show

Steve was on fire this tour. Little disappointed they skipped part of the solo . At around 9:50 they cut out a section then merged audio to guitar parts that don’t sync up. Otherwise, loved it.

I saw them in September 1972 and have yet to see any other band have such an impact on me. Though I prefer Bill Bruford’s style of playing, Alan White drives the hard rocking live performances of Yes. I would have loved to seen them live with Bruford as his live recordings with King Crimson are exactly what I hoped they would be.

I wonder why they cut the "death-defying, mutilated armies scatter the earth" part of the song? It should have been around 10:25 (since Howe's short guitar solo with the "ching-ching" sound comes right after it) but instead they just went through and skipped it. Huh.

Steve Howe is better than Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, Steve Vai, and all these shredders ...in my opinion Because speed and shredding get boring..the Van Halen hammer ons and offs are way over done and I start to yawn. Steve Howe, on the other hand is what I call " intellectual playing" He crafts each note and makes it musical and creates a melody within a song. and he does it in-between the virtuosos Wakeman and Squire who are doing their fair share of melody making. Yes Steve Howe is overlooked by those who are stuck on Hendrix, Clapton, Paige, Beck, Satriani, Bonanassa, Gilmore.and others they are great however, Steve Howe is to be studied carefully to be appreciated. He is the guitarist's guitarist. and Steve was very shrewed in 1973.... he and his brother made this film known as Yes songs....and due to their relationship with Atlantic records.... put the movie Yessongs in just about every major movie theatre in the United States. That's right, in 1973, Yessongs was playing in a local movie theatre in major cities in the United States. Hat's off to Steve Howe...it is 2023 and he is still going strong......you may or may not dig in the current lineup of Yes.....but they are going to be touring in 2024.... maybe in the United States...maybe in a city near you!! and
