Got my 2wd jeep Cherokee stuck down that spot before. Easily made it down, but coming back up only made it like 20% went down everyday for 3 days straight with couple friends 4x4s. Nothing could pull me out so I had to have an excavator come down to pull me out lol.. Stupid & expensive mistake but the fishing was action 🤙🏽

Oh wow! I've heard stories of guys getting stuck down there too where they had to be towed out with the use of three trucks 🤯 I just got my 4x4 literally the day before that trip down there. Something told me to hop in with my friend instead, really glad that I did haha. Glad we all made it out of there, the automatic steering got shot on the way up so it was manual steering the rest of the way out. Most likely the first and last for me lol.

So happy with this new Phenix rod, the backbone on this thing is impressive. I get to adjust my real exactly where I want it to be which makes it easier for me and I can conserve a little more energy as I'm pulling in. Pulling up pelagics is very addicting, I've been Hagi free for awhile now, awesome feeling 😀

What size reel are you using?

I use a 8000 size Penn Battle 3 high speed. 65 lb braid 500 yd worth of it.

Definitely! Prior to the Penn Battle 3 8000 I used a penn pursuit 3 6000 to do this type of fishing, I upgraded to the 8000 because I wanted more yardage. Got a lot of big strikes on that reel and it handled like a champ. If your vertical jigging even better, slap some 50 lb braid on that bad boy you should be good. If I ever had the chance to pick up another 6000 size reel I would go for the Daiwa BG 6500, to me it feels more solid and can handle a good size fish too. Depending on your budget of course.
