They say prog rock as a term to put Yes in some sort of category but they are way about a simple term.....the vibe and improvisational skills of these gentleman is above and beyond most bands from this era and even today....Steve Howe dominates here like an Olympic athletic going for the gold...he is giving you Yessongs at full force....his superhuman athletic ability and high intellectual guitar playing are there for the world to see. At the time, he was recognized as being one of if not, the best guitarists according to guitar magazine. Although this music is very complex and made by virtuosos, it apeals to millions and millions of people. Some loyal Yes followers would like to believe that Yes appeals to their refined taste in music.... similar to fine wine appealing to a wine connoisseur. I may be one of those Yes fans!!!! That's my opinion and I welcome yours..

I learned the keyboards for executing Excerpts From “The Six Wives of Henry VIII” based on this album. Also, I painted the Roger Dean inner fold out art three times from the Yessongs album. Twice in oil, one time in acrylic. Also, I had the pleasure of a one on one meeting with Rick Wakeman when he did a very small audience performance at CBN in Virginia Beach years ago. I shook his hand and let him know that he inspired me to become a keyboardist and also that I could play the entire Excerpts From “The Six Wives of Henry VIII.
