I live in New York State where we literally can’t even afford to die, much less have kids. My hospital bill when I had my daughter was over 100K….my dad passed almost 10 years ago and we are still paying it off…and he was a marine veteran. I could rant forever. I’m from Canada bestie. My jaw dropped when I heard $50,000. I had a c-section as well and WHAT THE HECK. I also got very sick from it and had to stay 7+ days in the hospital. I bet my bill would have been a million dollars, I swear 😅 I feel for you girl! That is so crazy to me!!!!!

As a single mom, getting health insurance didn't even cross my mind considering that I have to make every cent I can get count to take care of my 2 boys & I. I just had emergency gallbladder removal a month ago and was hospitalized for a week. I have statements coming in before I even have my follow up visit. Currently, my hospitalization is costing me a little over $200,000 and idk how they think im going to make that work. Taking all prayers for my sanity 😰

Emergency gal bladder surgery here too in 2013 and immediate infection with extended hospital stay. I just didn't pay that bill nor any of the individualized bills they hit you with afterwards. Who tf has tens of thousands of dollars for that?!?

I had emergency gallbladder removal in CA I was born and raised here I have insurance it costs $75K I have insurance so it cost me only $1,240 having insurance is clutch idk anyone who’d wanna pay out of pocket thousands if you don’t have to and it covers something I know some stuff isn’t covered lol but yea

See if your hospital has a charity care program thru the financial department! I had no idea this existed until my pregnancy was denied and my $40K c-section was billed. Charity care literally saved me and picked up the whole tab. It’s worth looking into! 🙏🏻they have one to help you (also it will not matter if you have ins and they WILL back date it)

Yes, this is so true! I had to do this when my husband and I were in a fatal car accident! He unfortunately didn’t survive nor did the passenger of the other vehicle. I was hospitalized for almost 4 months and had several surgeries. We had no insurance either at the time we were in the car accident. So between my hospital bill and my husbands, it totaled about 800k!!! Yes, they expected me to pay for my deceased husbands bill too! But I called the charity program at the hospital and they covered every penny of our bills!! Please look into it Nicole

C section cost my insurance 30k I was expected to still pay 6k out of pocket. I fought it with the hospital because I was and still am employed with a hospital and I know for a fact when you are uninsured and deliver a baby in AZ it is $2400. They ended up only making me pay 1k out of pocket. #fightthepower

Giiiirl, my son was a NICU baby...he stayed in the hospital for 4 months. He is literally a million dollar baby. I'm in a NICU support group and families that had little ones stay the same amount of time we did without insurance their bill was 3mil-5mil. I'm sure we were in the millions too, but thankfully we had insurance.

Also when you work at a decent job, they offer health insurance. You pay a portion which is taken from your check. We also have Obamacare plans where if you are self employed a KZbinr whatever you can purchase a plan that’s allegedly affordable for your level of income.
