I have the Yeswelder 250 pro and I weld mild steel on 110 volts. Works great. Love the welder. I have used it 220 and 110 volts. My settings are 19 and 8 wire speed.

Is it safe to run it on 110 Volts? The manual states 220V input required (No reference to running it at 110Vac).

Looks like a good machine and spool gun Bruce. I'd say it won't be too long before you're turning out awesome welds if your previous exploits are anything to go by.

I agree Thomas. I think it's a capable combo and in the right hands, it can help build some nice aluminum projects. Thanks for stopping by!

Looks like a good combo. Not much more fiddling with it. Looks nice to me. Really lays on the material. Cleaning looks good. Thanks Bruce. Cheers 🍻👍👍👍

Thanks Ron! You're right, it really lays down the material. If a guy had a large aluminum project, a spool gun would knock it out pretty quickly I think. 👍

Man. You have my machine lol. I have been trying to save up for one of these since I found one. Sucks being retired sometimes. But I 100% will get one of these.

LOL, other than being broke all the time, being retired is better in every way! IMO When you get your machine, you're going to love it! It's a great machine, especially for us retired guys with no money. LOL

Hey Rob, since you have a YT channel, if you contact YesWelder and ask them nicely, I'm pretty sure they would send you a machine for you to review on your channel. Just contact them at the email listed on their web site. Let me know how it goes if you get a chance.

Great video. Trying to get dialed in on this machine myself. Newbie question. Can you get into spray arc on a 1.8mm wall tubular aluminum or is spray arc only possible on thicker material? Thanks!
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP109 ай бұрын
Thank you! My understanding is that spray arc is possible with any material thickness. It's about the correct voltage to wire speed. I don't think the material thickness has any effect on it but I'm not an expert on spray arc. Happy welding to you :)

Looked better than the last video 👍I just received the machine and now about to order the spool gun. does the gun not have a wire speed controller?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I agree. The wire speed is controlled by the welder and not the spool gun.
@Rick_Gregor Жыл бұрын
A couple tips; the sooty stuff is because you are too far away from material, also it is not a requirement to oscilate...run straight pass and speed up some, especially on the lap pass. Aluminum is way more difficult than steel. Thanks for the video! Sadly, at YesWeld they are sold out of this welder!
@daledow22783 жыл бұрын
The spray arc setting works best, it seems. Can you force it into that mode, or does it change automatically with amperage?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP103 жыл бұрын
You can completely control if you are in short circuit or spray arc. With manual controls you just keep increasing the voltage until it's in spray transfer. Then you can control the arc length by adjusting the wire feed speed. Slower speed = longer arc and vise versa. It seems to go into spray at around 21 or 22 volts with about 12 mm on the wire feed speed. In spray transfer it's quiet and smooth with zero spatter. NICE!

My primeweld mig came with a spool gun. And the same free shipping 3 year warranty as my Tig.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP103 жыл бұрын
How many amps is your PW machine? The YesWelder is 250 and has a 60% duty cycle. That's nice when welding thick aluminum.

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Nope, still using/practicing the TIG. But I would have if it weren't for having to switch the tanks. It looks to be the same spool gun though. And the MIG is the best I've ever owned and as good as any I've used.

I just got this along with the spool gun and about to start welding aluminum. Where does the ground clamp go? I don’t see it in your video.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP102 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg, you will need DCEP (reverse polarity) for MIG welding aluminum with a spool gun. The ground clamp will connect to the negative port. This is the same setting for MIG welding a with shielding gas.

I watch your videos in that my question is why you playing with these tinker toy welders when you got a prime weld TIG 225x just like I do and it does everything you need to do?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP103 жыл бұрын
I like the prime weld machine but I really like some of the features of the YesWelder TIG 250P better. Smaller, lighter and digital control over all the functions as well as the arc control. I believe the YesWelder TIG 250P has a much smoother low amperage arc than the TIG 225X due to the digital arc control. The YesWelder TIG 250P also has a temp controlled fan and that is great for making videos. It also fits on my cart unlike the TIG 225X machine. I will say that YesWelder could learn a few things from the customer service and warranty of the PW for sure. Happy welding and thanks for stopping by.

So what input voltage are you connecting too: 110VAC or 220VAC? What is this European connector they are talking about. Will it (European) work in the USA?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I’m connected to 30A 240v AC input. The European connection is the all in one plug for the mig gun. ( trigger, voltage, wire and gas) all in one plug. Works fine anywhere in the world.

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Thank You for the info. Will any spool gun work with it? Or do you have to purchase it from YesWelder? Good information. I am thinking about getting one, but don't know everything I need (it would be for Hobby Use; Small Projects). It seems to me the spool gun would be the way to go; Then you don't have to change out the metal insert tube thing when going from Fe to Aluminum.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried any spool guns other than the YesWelder brand so I really can't say for sure but I believe any spool gun that has a European connector would most likely work fine. I agree with you that a spool gun is the way to go and much more convenient than switching out the liner to weld different materials all the time.

I'm working on a video to show how to modify the earlier version machines for a spool gun. I will include links to all the parts and it cost me around $20. It's not too terribly complicated and most folks that have this welder will be able to do it successfully. It's a great machine for MIG welding aluminum combined with the YesWelder spool gun.

Is gas required when using a spool gun?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP103 жыл бұрын
Yes, 100% Argon for spool gun aluminum. I suppose you could use flux core wire on steel without gas in a spool gun but that would only be for steel, not aluminum. I don't know if they make a flux core wire for aluminum or not.

You want to push your weld, not pull because you'll lose your gas coverage if you pull your weld bead. And your weld will be clean without any soot because of the better gas coverage.

I agree
@Anthony-pi6pfАй бұрын
Do you need gas with this??

It depends on what wire you intend to weld with. You'll need gas for solid mig wire and aluminum wire. No gas is required if you weld with flux core wire.

i have one if these and theres no such thing as 590 inches a minute, if you set your wire feed at 15 (the max), you’re not getting anymore than 150 inches a minute, it’s definitely not in meters that is actually in inches just with a stupid decimal place. not a bad machine but false advertisng on wire speed
