This video was one of the first I saw of yours. I was impressed at how thorough you are in caring for it. That was much bigger pond than you have now. I still enjoy watching.

Thanks for the information about the algae treatment. They were not kidding about the milky look. I take it, you're going to keep on miniaturizing the filtering system till it fits in a shoe box or less. Knew you collected some of the eggs, but you're heading for King of the Koi status. About time the kois paid you back, one way or another.

Harry Chung Hi Harry, Hope all is well. I've had so many emails saying my filter is a bit big for there pond I decided to make a smaller version for around the 1000 gallon ponds and I can also use it on my fry tanks, so it will come in handy. It was nice it was my biggest koi that spawned. It will be interesting how they turn out. regards Terry.

Hi, and thank you. You can find loads of information about fish ponds on my website, diypondfilters.com plus all my videos are there as well. I'm sorry but I have no idea what the plant is. someone bought it for me. Trouble is it died off one winter and never came back, so I really don't know. Good luck with the ponding. Terry.

Have tried this, it worked but I find Colombo Algesin works better. Removed all blanket week etc rapidly, the Biox works well afterwards to stop any blanket weed returning.
@Wrighty8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom. Will look into the Colombo Algesin. The Cloverleaf works well but does make a mess of your pond for a couple of weeks. Thanks again, Terry.
@tomc60038 жыл бұрын
+Wrighty The Algesin requires uv to be off I think for 12 or 24 hours, but it doesn't make the water cloudy/milky. You do two doses two weeks apart. I had a fair bit of blanket weed all over the pond, was nearly all gone only a week or so after first dose. Doesn't affect the fish, plants or filter colonies. The Biox works very well at stopping the blanket weed returning, plus oxygenates the water breaking down solids and waste.
@Wrighty8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom, That actually sounds better than the Cloverleaf. I will give it a try next time, Thanks. I have a new pond to build in a couple of weeks, so that will keep me busy for a while lol. I will be doing videos for KZbin on the build if your interested. Thanks Terry.

Every time I think about putting in a small back yard pond I watch these videos and remind myself I'm not retired, rich, or have the time to manage it daily. Looks like a great thing to have but my god the time and money required is insane. It's like having a saltwater fish tank swimming pool. How in the world do you people have lives outside of pond life???? Lol
@Wrighty7 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, I have to say I'm not rich or retired yet, in fact I've had 3 heart attacks and no one will give me a job lol. A well set up pond can be looked after in 3 to 4 hours a week. I must admit, it does become a bit of a bug like a lot of other hobby's. But it is very rewarding. Have you seen my new pond. This is the final build video of my pond. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnfTi6OOlK1jnJY Thanks, Terry.

Thanks Anthony, It is a great hobby. You usually find the majority of people who fit a small pond in there garden make it bigger within 2 years, and there's nothing quite so tranquil as the sound of running water. Thanks again, Terry.

Watched your video and was impressed. First treatment milky look disappeared within 5 hours and was wondering why?. Any way it did clear the algae for the sides of the raised pond. Did not look at the centre until yesterday and there is quite a lot there pulled out about 4-5 kilos. I had my aertated bottom drain on at full blast which send all the water to the sides and centre was not getting the treatment or so I think. Did another treatment yesterday with bottom drain getting the least about of air and all going to the air stones. Water still cloudy after 18 hours and hope this works for me.

@Wrighty8 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, Thank you and thanks for your nice comments. I had 2kg of the Cloverleaf which was around £30 if I remember correctly. Not cheap stuff. That will do my pond twice with a bit left over. I got the eggs from the pond as they were spawning. For a start I just put the eggs in anything I could find that would hold pond water lol. Then I quickly built a large wooden tank with builders planks and lined it with pond liner. They were in that for quite a while until I got my holding tank built. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXuWp42ClKuYrNU Thanks again, Terry.

Hi Tel, I remember seeing you remove an algae control in line device from your pipework in one of your videos as you said it doesnt work. Was that a copper ioniser by any chance? If so, what brand was it? I am considering getting one - the Aquascape ioniser 2. I've heard mixed reviews on them, and they are very expensive and have to get it imported from US as I can' find any in the UK and nothing else works for me. I also have a rocked in pond so vacuming the string algae off the rocks is a nightmare.
@Wrighty6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, I know what you mean about the algae. I can't believe the Cloverleaf is not working for you. I find it brilliant, apart from a messy pond for a week. The electronic algae killer I tried was a different thing altogether mate, not a copper ionizer. The one I tried was rubbish and a rip off at £40.00. I have herd you do have to be careful with those copper ionizers as you are adding copper to the pond and can overdose. There's a good article here: pondtalk.com/small-pond-topics/pond-ionizers-for-algae-control/#axzz5S0UZGwkX I was looking at them a few year ago and wouldn't risk it, but I have just had a look at them and they have improved a lot.
