I agree, the only thing I want an outbreak of is compost worms!! I think keeping the plastic off was a good call as well. It seems like there are less springtails in there now than a few feedings ago where the level of springtails was immense and uniform throughout the bin. Now they seem to be in the feeding half of the bin way more than the non fed zone. So maybe the drying and the bacterial dominant feeding method will finally get you where you want to go !! Excellent video, I always enjoy following you solving problems in worm bins!!🪱🪱🪱

The need to solve problems is the gift that keeps giving _(in terms of coming up with diverse video topics)_ - haha! The theory - although I did not research or verify it - seems sound & worthy of pursing. Time will tell if it does the trick :)

Humm. Is the bin ideal because of the springtails or in spite of them? They freak me out too. They get on my hands and arms. 🤢. I hope you reach the goal.

What I meant is that the bin would be a nice example of a nearly ideal system if it were not for the outbreak of springtails :)

Best was to explain it, I suppose, is personal preference. I don't mind having them, it is just their large numbers that I'd prefer to see reduced 👍🏻
