I wonder why all these businesses who embrace "diversity" in order to appeal to a wider audience end up going bankrupt shortly afterwards. Will the wider audience ever show up?

Instead of wrecking an institution like that theater company, they should have put their own troupe together and performed in the park. It would have only cost their free time, a little on costumes, and a permit, and some advertising. Who knows, they might have raised enough donations to rent a small theater and work up from there.

I've always thought that art funded by government subsidies is the biggest waste of money and should always be the first thing cut, it's basically welfare for these activist types who crap out an ideological piece to meet the requirements that nobody outside their small circle wants. Real art should be inspiring enough that it's financially self-sufficient, be it media that's bought by the public, or a private commission by someone who values the artist's previous works enough that they finance them to create a masterpiece.

Has there ever been much "great entertainment" produced out of Soviet-style thinking? I've seen those Russian films they licensed for MST3K and they're usually terrible and boring! Eisenstein may have been the last universally-praised Russian filmmaker but that was over 80 years ago!

As always with woke initiatives - when the state funding runs out, there is nothing they can do, because their creations can never support themselves. I had a theatre in my town go under too, and the town refused to fund it further, because the money was tight, due to various investments. The theatre wasn't woke, they just had a though time. People donated money, helped expand the range of services the place provides. ant the theatre is still there for people to go to. The wokies can never achieve that, beause they would ask for funding, then steal the money, buy themselves a couple houses somewhere far away, and cry systemic racism.

How about you just filed for bankruptcy, before your business goes under, that way you can leave the business with a positive profit margin. Why can't you just half movies without spouting about a message. Let the people decide what they want to watch in your theaters. That's what I plan on doing in august, and I don't have a political message about what I want to watch

you want diverse theater? let me guess that "diverse" just meant more black people and didn't actually involve introducing unknown theatrical experiences like the Japanese Yose and Kabuki or Chinese Opera, both had repeatedly proven to surprise and perplex western audiences when they are introduced(the Yun Jin incident in genshin, and quite a few anime that had their cultural references fly over the western audience's heads, including me). I also know that most westerners don't know much about middle eastern, arab, baltic, or russian theater - yet just add more black people and call it diversity.
