your ram should be in alternating slots, the way they are inserted would mean that they are running in single channel not dual

It all depends on what you use your PC for, if you just game/steam then it makes only a 1-2% difference but if you render then dual channel will help your CPU multitask quicker. MSI only uses a single channel setup in all there laptops do to the little effect it has on the system, Gamer Nexus also tested this theory to be true. I myself have tried this out once before do to the tall heat sinks on my RAM kit not fitting under my Noctua NF-A15X2 cooler and had to install my kit in a single channel Dimm setup and found a 25-50 point drop in my BM scores, which wasn't noticeable at all while gaming. Don't get me wrong I have my kits installed in dual channel Dimm slots now with my current build but if your stuck in a hard place with a build a single channel Dimm setup won't have much effect on performance.

?? I just let you know that if your in a pinch it makes like difference to performance, I used to think it was the end all in Ram setups and that there was such a thing as dual channel Ram kits until someone shared with me there experiences. I'm just trying to share to better the community.

That mostly depends on how do you set it up. I made case for my HTPC that would match my subwoofer and it was actually pretty quiet. It was mostly due to fact that slow spinning fans are not resonating at resonant frequency of the box so the sound wasn't amplified. HDD on the other hand was louder than it was outside of the box.

I wanna do something like this at one point. Maybe take it a few steps further and attach it to standing desk legs, maybe replacing part of the top with a clear top, wonder if there would be room to add sound treatment inside to make it quieter 🤔 if it was water cooled it would be even more low profile, I'm surprised I can't find similar extension ribbons for RAM like you can for PCIe connectors like the one you used for the GPU, but if they exist, you could make the entire thing as thin as whatever height the CPU cooling block is, since you could also lay the fans down. Ok I'm off to search for the flattest PC build lol.

Apart from using too much glue (not upgrade friendly, I would use more zip ties and clips to secure parts to the drawer) and barely adequate air flow, great video.
@CheffBryan
@CheffBryan 6 жыл бұрын
A good idea, but I think a few things should have been changed a bit; -the mobo ports would have greater access if it was simply spun 180, but kept at the same position -the air supply fans wouldn't be blocked if they had been put at the rear. Maybe make a dust filter by sandwiching the mesh between two frames of wood trim? -take advantage of the PCIe cable being somewhat flexible, and push the GPU as far back as possible, so the video cable can snake around to the rear with minimal bend stress. I am a fan of the GPU and PSU being angled how they are! Fantastic for airflow, and you're definitely clearing out the exhaust air with so many fans!
@themrn3xt
@themrn3xt 6 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, you better use a small 120mm liquid cooling system. You can put the fan and plate horizontal beside the GPU. Then, make holes below them for the air ventilation. So you can still safely overclock the CPU, and maybe a quiter system.

I build this as a proof of concept, which was converting pretty much any desk into a desk PC. Thus I bought the cheapest desk I could find in Ikea, which also happened to be the smallest one. This way it was more convenient to transport, took less space in my apartment and eventually was easier to resell. Would I use such on a daily basis? No, that's why my workstation desk PC is a custom made, much larger desk: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIawaKxpq5pmhbs

as a proof of concept its OK, yet you still need to take into account following factors: - such small or simmilar table would require you to have low height colling radiators and as seen in your videos only 120mm fans, this limits cooling options greatly. - for example, if you would want to put i9900K overclocked at 5.2Ghz, then the cooling in this or other desk wouldnt suffice. - for real culling you need custom loop with tubing,etc.. and its too complicated and messy for desks. - now, if you dont want to put high performance machine into desk and using only mid-range hardware, then again, why just not buy AIO PC and put it on any desk without any mess and custom work?

Personally I would take the extra step to be able to fix the fans and power supply with screws instead of using hot glue on them directly in case you ever need to replace one of those in the future. But I do like the way you fixed the motherboard and GPU. The result looks good.

Hot glue isn't really destructive or anything - I actually took out and reattached the PSU about three times in the process.

グラフィックカード、電源ボックス、マザーボードが故障するたびに、同じものを用意しないとダメだよね? パーツを交換するたびに、排熱するための穴の位置が違ったら引き出しを買い直しだよね…
