you sound a lot like Dwight, i studied with him at his homeplace in 2011-12. you have the timing and tone down-sounded great

Hi, Linda. Thanks for your kind words. Regarding your question, how new are you to clawhammer style? If you're really solid with the "bum ditty" and don't mind changing the tuning of your banjo, go for it. I can provide the tab I have for thi song if you'd like. However, if you're brand new, I would recommend choosing a clawhammer teacher (there are several great beginner teachers on KZbin that have free lessons uploaded). It's so wonderfully strange to me how music from such a deeply Christian culture can have a sound that has such a mystic pagan vibe to it. At least to my ears, and I mean that in the best way.

Theres nothing Christian or any such thing about this music. Its roots are in ancient Africa mixed with european Celtic influence and who knows what else.
