A tri z swingarm and engine fits in a banshee ,, the back shock lines up too ,, I can't remember what got me stalled ,, but I had it sitting on 4 wheels ,, the internet wasn't a thing back then so tri z parts were hard to find ,, Dyno port was gonna make me a pipe ,, I sent them pics ,, the banshee motor blew up hard and I picked up a scrapped tri z that did have the engine and swing arm and back brakes

without going through the comments to find out something he has probably answered, i would almost bet good money that he bought the yfz450 as a complete roller with an engine that had a catastrophic failure of some kind. maybe the crank locked up or the piston broke in pieces at high rpm which took everything out in the process. he probably got it as a complete roller for a little of nothing, 4-500 bucks at the most, and either had an older yz250 that ran well or had a motor he got from a friend for 50 bucks. imma go out on a limb and say he has very little coin in this machine and built what I would think is one hell of a blast to ride trail bike. And I'd say it handles like nothing else made, it has to weigh several pounds less than it did. I admire this and am now considering trying to do something similar. although my version will most likely be a newer 400ex or 450r Honda and use a cr500 engine. I will keep the same brands together no matter what it ends up being. whatever I can find and afford will be the winner here lol. But on a side note, I always thought the ultimate four wheeler for both racing and trails would be a yfz450r chassis and suspension with a stage 2(maybe 3, all depends how durable it is when racing for hours) raptor 700 engine and trans. The 700s are a much more durable and abuse proof design that uses its size and torque to dominate the 450s. especially on tracks with long straights or up hill sections. Yamaha would have the golden ticket if they would make them factory, Of course just a stock 700 engine would do. maybe shorten the stroke to make the engine shorter/or redesign it a little to lower it's overall center of gravity (BIGGEST FLAW WITH THE RAPTOR ATV, the damn thing sits too high and always tried to turn over or go on 2 wheels, and it's about 6 inches too short. I know this because I bought one brand new off the dealer floor in 2011. They are the meanest looking bikes out, at least til they fucked with the nose piece which now looks dumb, and are by far the most durable/reliable of all the sport quads out right now. I put over 7000 HARD miles on mine and the only time I ever worked on the engine was to adjust the valves at certain maintainence intervals. hell I never run the correct oil either, I ran regular ol Mobil 15w-40 diesel oil it's whole life after I drained the factory stuff. Which I always assumed had break in oil in it. The day I sold it, it ran just as good as it did when I bought it. It didn't smoke, rattle, sputter, get hot, shift hard, still had original clutches in it too. never did hurt it even after getting drunk on several occasions and launching wot on blacktop or doing donuts/burnouts. even pulled my full size truck for about 13 miles in 100* temps when the truck quit running in the middle of nowhere. It was straight up a long hill when we took off and up an down the whole way. needless say, I ran that 700 so hard that the gas in the tank was boiling when we got home. but it never missed a best nor did the engine get hot. I pretty much went the whole way in 2 an 3rd gear going almost wide open to keep the truck moving through the hills (which had 4 passengers might I add). That raptor really proved to me the difference between the high strung 450s and the brute torque of the 700. there's just no comparison how the raptor pulls compared to a 450 Of any make. although admittedly the ktm and the Kawasaki 450s are the stories stock 450s I've rode and they are stout for sure. They barely could outrun me on the very top end of wide open. I have a suspicion that a programmer would've changed the outcome a bit. but from takeoff too about the top side of 4th gear, I would be way ahead of any 450. talking all things are stock, maybe a pipe or open filter here or there, but stock engines all the way. part of the reason it was so durable is I never modified the motor from the way it was meticulously designed, built, and tested to run. I loved the motor but the reason I no longer have it is, I also had the older 660 too which was 10x worse than the newer 700, it was pretty much a death trap. The engines in both of the big bore raptor had waaayyyyy more power/torque/speed than the frame/suspension/overall design could handle. they would stand up when you weren't ready or turn on the side doing donuts and sling you 20 yards lol. The 660 was terrible hard to master. It took me about 2 months to get good with it. first gear was short, 2nd would strip the gear if you don't shift it firmly, but 3rd was sweet. But I crashed it almost every time I went out. The 700 was better but not great. what it did gain in handling from the old 660 it over powered with an engine that only needs 3rd gear. It would take off uphill, trail ride at reasonable speed, and do around 60-62 mph which is faster than you usually get the chance to go off-road. you couldn't bog it down, it was easy to learn to ride. I taught a couple youngins how to ride their first manual atv on it. Just turned the throttle screw in. you could literally just pop the clutch with no gas in 1st or 2nd and it would idle off to a slow roll. can't make them die. But other than the handling quirks (which most riders might not find as much an issue as I did but the places I ride are extremely steep and lose ground, and I ride my stuff on both my limits as a rider and its limits as a machine). reverse and fuel injection is what initially sold me on it to start with. plus the way it looks. And damn they are strong. can't describe it to someone who hasn't rode one. And mine wasn't the only good one, my buddy had an 09 model that he wore out before I got mine and we rode them almost every day all day. there was a yfz450r, a trx450r, and 2 Suzuki 450s that rode with all the time too. And I can guarantee you without a doubt, that the raptors spent almost zero down time compared to the others, and much more user friendly to ride all day. plus mine hade a speedometer and fancier shocks than the 09, but his was slightly faster. but im about 50 pounds heavier than him. Did I mention reverse and fuel injection is sweet? they ran good in all weather and weren't terribly bad on gas compared to the 450s, which all were gas hogs in my opinion, and the 700 runs just fine on the cheap 87 gas. The 450s would run on 87 with about half a bottle of octane booster. if we didn't put the booster in, they ran stupid hot and would start spark knocking a little bit when we got in the slow rough stuff. And every atv in our group had the same tires, hand gaurds, and nerf bars. we were all within about 2-3mph of each other when racing on the road. with the 09 700 being the fastest, followed by the yfz450 and Honda 450 and my 700, we could almost literally pass a cig between us we were so close. mine ran 78/79mph according to the speedometer, and I would ride the limited for miles and miles. never had a single problem. not that the 450s were junk, they just needed more tinkering more often and each of them got a freshen up with rings and gaskets each winter. but we also rode 1500-2000miles throughout the year, and showed no mercy to our bikes. fresh oil/filter, adjust chain, clean air filter, spark plug every 3 months, and grease what you can. And do not over heat them for a long time or run them super low on oil, and stay out of the water if you can. They they will last til you get tired of them. now, I did wear the 660 out, but it probably had 10k miles and a million hours when I got it. then I ride it for 2-3 years, doing nothing but maintaining it correctly. It eventually started burning some oil but still ran fine. I ride it for a year like that til it got too irritating to ride with the smoke. And got harder to start when it was cold. But But a quick bore job and piston/rings, valve seats an seals and bigger valve springs and stage 3 cams. plus I cut the head down to raise compression, rejetted and full exhaust system. And geared the back sprocket down a couple teeth. first owner geared it up and no joke it would run 96-99 on the street. freaking scary lol. too fast. But i added like 15-20hp with the mods and it was just plain dangerous powerful. It would stand up with no effort 4th and 5th gear. I have a vid on my old phone of me racing a gsxr600 and I ran him good til 90ish. it was wicked strong, but it sat so high I felt like I was straddling a chain link fence and handled like a craftsman lawnmower. And was heavier than the 700/450s and was higher maintainence than the 700. I don't recommend a 660, especially now since they are old and mostly wore out and certain years had trans probs and others had valvetrain/timing chain issues. The early ones would ring the 2nd gear plum off and the middle years wore the chain a little and started slapping the case or piston kissed a valve at high rpm. but they had a ton of torque too, just not as buttery smooth as the 700s. The 660 was actually considerably faster than the 700 from take off to wide open though. I attribute that to a more aggressive engine and longer gears. The 700 was the better bike though, I wished i still had it to build a big ass stroker motor out of. like an 800cc or more with bigger cams!!!

450 Dirt bike / Quads there's def. a difference it seems. Not sure if its the weight of each unit or there's actually Comp. Ratio / head work / Cam differences. The 250 2-strokes technically have less power on paper but they are lighter and and deliver a much more violent ride!! I think the younger Generation looks at the spec's of each and makes their decision between the 2

Love the throttle. Lol. I have two questions maybe you could answer...I’ve got a lot of free time..a Yamaha quad with a blown motor and a perfectly good yz250 engine. How bad is the vibration? And do you think a warrior frame can hold the 250 without cracking the frame welds?

Will be nice quad for trails and sand but not if you had to ever go in some mud or a trail to where you're going to get mired down or had to climb up a hill in less you're going fast because the 250 has less torque might have more horsepower but less torque and if the torque is ever the same the torque Curve will be wrong still not a bad idea it's it makes it better for trails and handling it also makes it better if you want it for Street and off-road at the same time
