Gamer Time It was basically about staying true to your roots and not destroying your bonds to your culture just because your country (Greece in this case) goes through hard times. It was a dialogue - in the verses Greece complaining that she is abandoned and forgotten and in the chorus Greeks ensuring her that they are as ever loyal to her.

It's been 3 years since this masterpiece was performed on the stage yet I still can't help coming back here. This is one of the best songs I've ever heard in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Greek language sounds so magical and those instruments create such a unique atmosphere. Strong songs like these don't need stages full of dancers or colours. I much preferred this to Cyprus. The thing that annoyed me was that here in the UK the commentators didn't even bother to explain what the song was about or anything and completely disregarded songs sang in native languages. I've been studying this ancient language for 7 years. Listen to this song, this ancient language made me thrill. Go on Greece, see you the next year Edit:I know modern greek is totally different, it's like latin and italian. I was just saying that it LOOKS LIKE it's in ancient greek. Furthermore, we know nothing about ancient greek music, so this is even much more interesting. I perfectly know that greek changed through centuries: dialects period, koinè dialectos phase, Roman greek phase, medieval greek and Modern greek. I've studied all those periods and I learned the ancient language pretty well I'm sorry if I couldn't make myself understood before.

Greece not qualifying for the final this year was one of the biggest crimes in ESC history. But it wasn't a crime comitted by the voters, it was a crime comitted by everyone who was responsible for the performance. Poor Yianna. 😢

Great song, great video, but with a lousy performance that cost Greece the final. From what I learned, Yianna herself was mostly responsible for the lack of proper choreography of some skilled dancers on the stage, because she supposedly didn't want anyone else on stage. Lack of underlining a majestic song with similarly dramatic dance and moves is more than evident in the instrumental part in the song, but obviously, no one couldn't talk sense into the singer. Too bad because this song deserved much, much better.

SyllogikiMnimi That's a silly argument, specially when Albania has qualified singing in their own language... The studio version of the Greek song was good, but not the performance. Her dress was beautiful, she was like a goddess, but her vocals weren't on point and the staging was horrible for her. The studio version is relaxing, like a travel to Greece where you see a blue sky, a calmed see, white historical monuments, beautiful cities... When the stage needed blue and really calm colors to create the same atmosphera they brought us yellow, red and fire. Really disappointing.

It’s a good song that she destroyed with her terrible voice , staging and facial expressions ... When you sing such a serious song you can’t smile just like she did in some parts . We didn’t deserve final AT ALL . This was garbage !

I feel like I will be very happy to see almost any possible winner. Mine are Czech Republic and Cyprus, Bulgaria also in my top 3, Lithuania would be wonderful, Israel could be great if she improves in final somehow, that was a little messy in semi. Finland would be surprising but great for me. Honestly I don’t mind Estonia winning, though I barely have them in my top 10. Norway hardly deserve a spot in top 10, not winning the contest ofc. France as a winner would be ok to me but I don’t want them to win this year. I find that I always have different opinion on France than most fans, 2017 was my winner, love Requiem.

Greece was the best song in the semifinal, she deserved to qualify ugh! Although I'm disappointed that they didn't use backup singers that joined her for the chorus, that would have been absolutely phenomenal! Probably because of budget reasons, but still a pity.. It would have made a huge difference

This masterpiece didn't do it because of the staging. The greeks sent 4 !!! options for their stage performance and the organisation of the ESC did not accept all 4 stagings! So the stage we saw yesterday was the last way to do it. They did not let her to express her song like they wanted to. So sad! I am so sorry for Yianna, she gave her best. Greece should be proud of her!

Wrong! ETR changed all the production 3 times. Each rehearsal with a different guideline. EBU didn't refuse them! It was the Greek delegation changing its mind all the time! The Greek singer did a great show Anyway! It is enough to watch her first words when arriving at the green room. She was super happy!

I agree. Juries keep ignoring what music is. Music for Juries: Fireworks Music for everyone: Feeling Portugal won the jury and televote. Then the juries ignored Salvador and messed up the contest.

Jesus Christ! I've just seen that Greece isn't in the finals, and I can't believe it. Song is amazing!
