I love how they only needed one scene to show how much they revamped/improved Michael’s character. I’m SUPER interested about what they’ll do with him and the Camera.

Yeah they are funny. Made me wonder if some of the items were more expensive or cheaper than normal and if I was doing wrong by buying stuff he had a mad reaction to.

I really do feel like this is a detail that confirmed to me that they at least watched Running Shine's YiiK review. One of his main complaints of the game was the UI of shops and how although some elements of it were cool, it was ultimately really boring to look at and kinda hard to navigate. Lo and behold, I.V. gives the Shopping UI an overhaul, but also one that fits the ideal he described in the video (albeit, with Alex making funny faces instead of the shop keeper, which is honestly way better and funnier).

@@aaronhussey8522 I actually like the Alex's reaction over Melo's suggestion of the shopkeep reaction In fact there is great potential where the expressions may serve as a hint like if something is too expensive or if that item may be useful or useless based on how Alex reacts to the choice you're about to make which adds a lot to the character that he so desperately needs

You can really see Running Shine's influence over the Allansons seeing how a lot of his critiques were addressed and my goodness it doesn't fail to make me grin

@@linguisticspaceship well if they did or not it's still amazing that a lot of the problems the game had from the UI to the overtalking to the combat and the awkward still images were solved in accordance with what Running Shine had suggested So either they did watch and take notes Or they're clairvoyant and magically thought of the exact same thing

@@linguisticspaceship I guess that just goes to show how well that video (and lots of others like Tehsnarker’s) were able to address the problems of the game.

@@gavi888 Back in 2011, it was announced and named "Project Y2K" and was meant to be an Earthbound inspired RPG. It went from a light dreamy fantasy theme, to 90s paranormal themes, and lastly the low-poly contemporary theme we see today. If anything, the new battle system here is CLOSER to the battle system from the beta than when it first launched.

So in other words, YIIK's 13 years in the making. It was supposed to release all the way back in like... 2016.

I do not understand the battle system
@aaronhussey8522Ай бұрын
I can try and explain it: - You and certain enemies have Cards that act as shields. So long as you have Cards, you gain passive effects or are able to perform special moves. You'll also be protected from direct damage so long as you have one. If you take enough hits, your Card(s) break for the match and it's effects along with it. Taking certain items will give you cards as well, but they usually won't have any special effects. - With no cards, you are susceptible to direct attacks that may inflict you with bleed, causing your health to drain overtime. Taking medical items will stop bleeding and may also give you temporary cards. - Enemies with cards play by the same rules and you will have to destroy their cards to hurt them directly and inflict bleed on them. So far, we've only seen what Alex can do, so other characters are likely to have more unique mechanics to make the battle system more interesting. Hope my explanation answers your question somewhat, I'm not entirely sure of the system myself.

@@aaronhussey8522 honestly a neat battle system. Just wish the Karta mechanic was more utilized in the demo
@livvy94Ай бұрын
Tester here! It looks super chaotic but after you get your hands on it it's really engaging
@amimm7776Ай бұрын
It feels like a derranged golden sun, djinn and Karta both grant you stat boosts and can be released for special moves, only the djinn don't act as shields and can be recovered after being used. Honestly I can't wait to get my hands on the fully fledged game, the last fight in the demo gave me a taste of a combat system with Yiik's name on it that is actually engaging and makes me want to master it, which I never thought I'd live to see.
@pantslesswrock15 күн бұрын
There is no combat system that could be added to original recipe YiiK that would make that game better - besides the brilliant levelling system, the experience most encounters in no way adds to the points or themes of the rest of YiiK. This new system seems quicker and easier to execute inputs, but also continues to seem ultimately more fiddly than should be necessary. The story of YiiK (as we have known it before the infusion) would work perfectly fine with a simpler system, like a modernized NES-style thing. Conflict and how to avoid it is, after all, one of the earliest things we learn. However, while basic broad story beats are likely to be the same, the framing and opacity levels of the narrative is totally switched up, and that leaves open the opportunity for the combat to, more than feel good (in some ways that worries me), have a stronger connection to the rest of the game's themes. The demo is but a small slice, I won't discount the opportunity.
