This is why I find Chinese easier to understand than to speak , because I could interpret what was said before given the English translation, however if you had asked me to coin a few of the sentences given here in Chinese it would have posed a bit of a challenge. It would be good if we could have gotten a few sentences from each example to convert to Chinese for practice. Perhaps you could do a follow up video with a PDF with an answer sheet to try. If the pdf is extensive i would even be willing to pay for it especially if its the last 2 of the 4 examples
@yiminchinese
@yiminchinese 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much , I think yes the PDF is a good idea, it's just I am not so busy with producing the videos, I work on my own, so it might be hard for me to get the time to make the PDF materials, maybe someday in the future . anyway, really grateful for your advice😜🌺😜🌺

The structure S+S seems to be a bit similar to the distinction between topic and subject in Japanese. The topic is what we talk about. The subject is what/who makes the action of the verb. Your first subject of S+S looks like a the topic. Topic and subject may be the same, in this case one falls back to the single subject type of sentence. Well, maybe trying to find a similarly where there is none 😅 At least this lesson opened my eyes to this type of structure in Chinese. Thx

if i were to try and make a sentence in chinese using japanese particles, i think it would be like this: 这本书は (我が)以前看过 この本は(私が)読んだことがあります i feel it might be similar to this. however not exactly the same per say, as japanese particles have their different nuances based on what word type is used, but i think it's close. other times i feel the topic and subject is switched. 猫和狗我都喜欢 私は猫も犬も両方好きです here if you make 猫と犬 the topic with は and use 好きです、it might sound like you only like cats and dogs compared to other animals based on the relation between topic(は) and adjective/verbs i could be wrong though since im not very familiar with chinese

Some people say that a Chinese adjective also functions as a verb. So 贵 can mean "expensive" or "is expensive". Now, it seems that if we replace the adjective with a number (such as 五十块) then that can function in the same way. So 五十块 could mean "fifty dollars" or "is fifty dollars". So we could say: 这个蛋糕很贵 ("This cake is expensive") 这个蛋糕五十块 ("This cake is fifty dollars")
@yiminchinese
@yiminchinese 3 жыл бұрын
thank you very much for sharing with us . yes some adjective also functions as a verb, but in the case of 贵,it's another meaning, when 贵 is a verb, it means " cherish, value, or attach importance to", eg, 君子贵德, my god ,I don't know how to translate this sentence. "a man with noble character values virtue", I hope it makes some sense, haha

哇哇哇哇~ 所以....我们应该用S+S+V when we want the Verb to be the important part of the sentence? 因为我们也可以说"我以前看过这本书"所以也许"这本书我以前看过"的意蕴是我不想又看这本书?
