I liked the routine but I heard very little of what you said so I had to keep raising my head to look at the screen. The music was relaxing but it overrode your quiet voice.

Absolutely wonderful You have saved me from my bursitis. Since I began this yoga exercise (5 times a week for the last 4 months) my bursitis has not returned...ever. THANK YOU!

This is the 4th of your bursitis videos I have tried in the last month or so and they have helped tremendously. I am so appreciative that have done them! I have been working through bursitis in first one hip and then the other for over 2 years. I finally feel like I can get past it and start feeling normal again. And I have to say your videos are the easiest to follow yoga videos I have ever done and I have been practicing off and on for over 20 years. Excellent work Joelle!

I totally agree! This has been the most helpful yoga channel I have found. It is more helpful for me right now than the many years of yoga I did previously. The targeted approach and short videos is extremely helpful! Love this.

Hi Joelle, I have been following all your hip bursitis routines and I really love them. Using yin yoga poses for the release and stretching of the hips is truly wonderful. I would love to have other longer (45-60 min) yin yoga sequences for release of hips, glutes and in general the entire body. I feel very safe following your channel considering I am 55 years old and have issues with my hips. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. It would be great if you could increase the volume as I found it difficult to hear and impossible to concentrate. I turned my volume to the maximum but could vaguely hear. I am sure it would be great if I could do it with more concentration. Thanks a million.

I have been suffering hip pain for over 9 months, finally went to an Orthopedic doctor, and was diagnosed with hip bursitis, gluteal tendonitis, and IT band tightness. I have practiced your hip pain videos for 5 days now and feel much relief. Thank you for these sequences. They are the best for me and a great physical therapy session I can do at home.

I have such bad lower back pain due to my bursitis my hip bursitis that I've been doing your 10 minute lower back and 10 minute hip videos every single morning from 5:50 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. just like get up and get to work in my chair but it is helping me dramatically I have not quite yet woken up in the morning pain-free yet but it is getting there thanks to your videos

This was wonderful. I've had a chronically (always) tight QL on one side and low back pain for 7 months now. I would love a longer time for QL. I do your short one 3-5x a week.

So glad you found the QL one already and happy to hear it's helping! If you haven't tried it already I'd also suggest the IT band yin stretch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poebc6eiaNKfjqM (Generally, quite a few stretches that we feel down the side of the body tend to be good ones for the QL) And lastly, I'd also recommend my lower back workshop, as we get specifically into the QL quite a bit: tinyurl.com/2s3sknzh 😉

I love this one! Thank you! My happy self went for a jog last night and I'm regretting it because my hip bursitis (both hips) flared up! I thought I would be okay after doing some stretching for the hips and hamstrings. I have been preparing myself so that I can start jogging and not have to be in pain all the time. I guess I was wrong. I love just doing yoga, relaxing and going with the flow.

I have been doing yin yoga for a number of years in a local studio and I absolutely love it. I like the slow meditative pace and find it he,ps my anxiety abd well as deeply relaxing me. I have struggled with hip bursitis for a few years abd find that doing yin helps that as well. I’m happy I found yourvideis as now I can practice at home as well as in studio.

That's a great attitude Melinda! It's so easy to get discouraged when we feel like we can't do something, but the fact that you're noticing what's going on right now with your body means you'll also feel empowered to notice positive changes! Til then, keep practicing (a little each day goes a long way!), believe in yourself, and never hesitate to use additional props or cushions to make a posture feel better for you! ✨

I’ve been isolating for a couple of days with no exercise. My hips started to feel sore with all the sitting and lying down. I chose this routine as soon as I feel strong enough. And it’s perfect! I feel much looser, hips are happier. Thanks again Joelle!

Thank-you for teaching me about facia and giving me back my strength and mobility. My niece studies and practices and teaches yoga. When I mentioned my aches and pains, she turned me onto you and it has totally worked. I love all of your hip routines, use them daily, and notice the positive changes. So wonderful. I feel a lot of blood flow in my hips and generically calming my body and mind! especially after a long day full of walking at work. Thank you for your videos. I have a lot of hip pain at times and you're guiding me through how to relax them/take care of them

omg weve been learning about faschia and spiders web all weekend watching mudfossil university guy on youtube and its been fascinating, i can't believe i'm now hearing you talk about it too, he says to stretch the muscle and sit there for 5 minutes while the lubrication oil we all produce naturally is re established in the muscle that has gone dormant and youve just said the same thing ,,,,,love synchronicity

I have had excruciating leg and hip pain for 2-3 days now. It slowly appears to be improving with rest, but at first I was quite alarmed as it was influencing my ability to walk. Thank-you for this practice. It was relaxing and enjoyable. 🌵💗🌵🕉️

This is an interesting shift from your regular routines which I have been doing daily. Didn't know what to expect, just trusted that it would be good. It didn't disappoint. I did this right after my meditation session. And it worked out perfectly. Thanks Joelle! Keep up the good work!

I haven’t done this in a while. When I did the banana pose, my former right problematic hip felt quite tight and painful. Have not felt this in a while. Does this mean the bursitis is acting up again? Worried that this is showing up quite close to my multi day hike! Will keep doing this routine. Thanks Joelle!

While I can't tell you exactly what's causing it, there are a lot of factors that might explain why one day we're simply tighter than another day. So it's not necessarily bursitis, but it's a great observation to keep an eye on that area. If you have something like a tennis ball or foam roller, you might try gently rolling out that area 2-3 times a day just to give it a chance to reset and release. And if banana pose isn't feeling good, I'd say skip that pose, or instead of leaning the body into the banana shape, just cross your ankles and hold your wrist with the body straight - often times that's still enough for us to get a nice stretch down the side of the body without overextending areas that are tight that day! I hope that helps 😉

The ankle to knee and the cross-legs stretches definitely target my tight hip, but they hurt terribly. I did these very gently one afternoon and the next day woke up almost crippled! What does this mean? Thankfully, things loosened up after I used ice and rested all day. Is there any hope for me? I am over 60.

Well done Tallis! If something "hurts terribly" that's a good indication that we've gone too far into a stretch and that the body needs us to back off. In yin yoga we look for about 60% of our maximum rather than going "all the way in." As to whether there's hope, absolutely! Yin yoga can be a wonderful practice for any age and body with appropriate modifications. @@YogawithJoelle Just wanted to tell you that I've been doing some of your moves for over a week now, and I can't thank you enough! I'm finally feeling improvement to an injury that had me getting pretty desperate. What is key for me seems to be holding the stretches peacefully for several long minutes, and only to the degree I can do them. I'm also doing tiny "crunches" (mini-sit-ups) and lying-down straight leg lifts: I feel a lot stronger now! Thank you, Joelle!

In a standard yoga class, are there poses we should avoid or modify if we have hip bursitis? I always end up in more pain than before class.

Great question, Melissa! Unfortunately, it's also a tough one without a super-clear answer - to my knowledge, there isn't any specific pose to be avoided at all costs when suffering from hip bursitis, but that's mainly because we can suffer from it to different degrees and in slightly different parts of the hip. My best advice would be to start by modifying any more "extreme" pose, like maybe pigeon or goddess squat with the use of some yoga blocks or pillows, as well as any pose that may not look "hard" but still bothers you. Then over time, you can experiment with some more advanced modifications and see how you feel by the end of class. I hope that's helpful, let me know if there are specific poses you'd like any modifications for! 🌟
