Proceedings of Sunday 23rd June 2024, was the ELEVENTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING (Sixth Sitting of Second Session) of the Third Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana of YIM held at Ho Municipal Assembly Hall, Ho. The sitting was presided over by 'Hon.' Enock Kwame Sododzi (Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Youth MP for Sege Constituency).

YIP HOLDS ITS ELEVENTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING OF THE THIRD PARLIAMENT
On Sunday 23rd June 2024, at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall in Ho, the Third Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana of YIM convened for its Sixth Sitting of the Second Session, dubbed the ELEVENTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING.
The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, 'Hon.' Enock Kwame Sododzi (Youth MP for Sege) presided over the sitting. The table office was headed by the Deputy Clerk - Operations to Parliament, Miss Hetty Selasi Afenyo, The Majority Caucus, led by the Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Wonder Dzameshie (Anlo Youth MP) and the Minority Caucus, led by the Minority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Hubert Agbaxode (Akatsi North Youth MP).
The sitting commenced with a procession. Mr. Deputy Speaker proceeded to read the opening prayers and read the communications from the Speaker. Following this was the official introduction of Youth MPs present in the chamber. The Deputy Majority Leader presented the Business Committee Report for the day and it was adopted as business to be transacted for the sitting.
At the commencement of the debate, ‘Hon.’ Jones Amegashie-Viglo (Interim Youth MP) presented a recap on the 2023 Ho Youth Well-being Index Report. He stated that the Young and Safe Project is a three-year initiative by Node Eight Foundation, Love Aid Foundation, Ho Municipal Assembly, and the Ghana Education Service, part of the Healthy Cities for Adolescent Programme - II. Funded by Foundation Botnar and managed by Ecorys Ltd, the project includes the Ho Youth Well-being Index 2023, which assesses the well-being of youths aged 13 to 25 in Ho Municipality, Ghana. The index evaluates five dimensions: Community and Civic Participation, Economic Opportunity, Education, Health, and Safety and Equity, using 45 indicators in 13 subdimensions. The overall score was 57.0%, categorized as “Average,” highlighting areas needing improvement.
Mr. Deputy Speaker then invited members to debate on the report. From their scrutiny, they commended the report, but however highlighted some short comings of the report. They debate the report dimension by dimension, with respect to the well-being of youths in Ho Municipality. At the end of the debate, the report was adopted with their submissions to be communicated to the authors of the report.
At the commencement of Private Business, Mr. Deputy Speaker gave the opportunity for members to ask questions, make statements and file petitions for the attention of the house. Questions asked were dully responded to. No statements were made and no petitions were filed.
At the commencement of Public Business, the Acting First Deputy Speaker, ‘Hon.’ Magdalene Aduako (Youth MP for Saboba) took the chair to enable the Second Deputy Speaker who chairs the Privileges Committee to present the report of the committee on the 9 members referred to the committee for breaching Order 34. After the presentation of the report and comments made, the house considered each of the Youth MPs referred and voted on the recommendation of the committee to boot them out. At the end, the following Youth MPs representing the following committees were accordingly booted out for missing 3 consecutive sittings of the house without permission from the Speaker of Parliament; Keta, Kpone-Katamanso, Upper Manya Krobo, Salevugu, Gomoa Central, Awutu Senya West, Ayawaso North, Bimbila, and Kade.
Mr. Second Deputy Speaker resumed the chair and the Chairperson of the Stand Orders Committee presented the amendments to the standing orders for the consideration and adoption of the house. At the end of consideration, all the amendments were adopted and the standing order stood dully amended. Updates on the composition of the 4th Parliament were shared thereafter.
At the end of business, Mr. Deputy Speaker called for a motion to adjourn the house. Motion moved and seconded, question put and the AYEs had it. The house stood adjourned till July for its Twelfth Parliamentary Sitting.
