Heel erg blij met deze uitleg. Vooral met het feit dat het begrip handen en voeten heeft gekregen. Er is nu een extra bladzijde toegevoegd in mijn I-Ching boek "Behulpzame inzichten en uitleg". Dank Harmen, echt top deze 'uitzending'.

Really like this lecture a lot. Be great to see a pt2: "How to interpret in a reading". The more thorough and in depth look at the phrase I've seen yet, especially linguistically. Be great to hear your reflections on it's direct implications. Still working to cross it after all these years! lol

Hi Harmen. Thank You for this excellent video. Corncerning 'Crossing the Great River' I do often think about this strange phenomena that hexagram 63 and hexagram 64 are sort of "turned around" in the king Wen sequence of the hexagrams. It's not: Not yet across, in hex. 63 and: Allready across, in hex. 64 - like one could expect - but the other way round.

Maybe this shows we should not look at the hexagrams in a sequence of 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. but as pairs: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 etc.

@@YiTubeChannel I agree. I find thou that the expression 'Crossing the Great River' are very heavy underlined in these two last hexagrams meaning that this expression gets a broader meaning like: Done and afterwards: Starting to do - or something alike.

I have always thought that Hexagram 64 is saying there is no destination; there is no end. The journey IS the destination, and so it continues....

Thank you answering the question and for the research and explanation! It's interesting to actually see how much meaning can be lost through translation. I'm thinking about the workshop, it sounds really interesting :)

Hello Harmen, are big river and the big water the same thing? Also, is it just a coincidence that the old, original character She, with the "four dots" (two on either side of the river) looks a lot like the water trigram. In other words, the dots are actually derived from the ends of "broken" yin lines - the river line is the yang line. Thanks.

If you mean if 'big river' and 'big water' mean the same thing in translations: yes, I think so. Although 'great water' is not the best translation in my opinion, because it could also mean that you are crossing a lake or sea - which is not what is meant with 川.

Hi Harmen Could there be a mistake in the section "Crossing the great river in the Zhouyi"? I' ve been looking at hexagram 15, and the phrase yong she da chuan 用 涉 大川 doesn't appear in the Judgement, but in line 1. Am I wrong?

No, you are right. Must be a typo. Thank you for noticing!
