The reason Alex wasn't in this episode was down to actor scheduling, Chyler was filming Sanvers scenes while the crossover was being shot. Hopefully Alex will finally meet Barry in next seasons 4-night crossover.

I liked the lesson Barry and Kara were given. I mean they are superheroes but they can not control everything. I think its true love is also about letting someone save you not just about you saving them. I know alot of people hate Mon El for his flaws and his past but the character was written that way on purpose so that we could see him go through his very own hero's journey. Something we could not see with Kara as she always had a heroes heart. They chose Mon El because it gave them alot of creative freedom they could change his story and make it their own. This way we all get to see as he learns and makes mistakes on his way to becoming the hero he is meant to be. I think he made the most sense as a love intrest for Kara. Supergirl and Valor complement each other in more ways than one. I know some people are completly against Kara having a love intrest because they say she doesn't need a man but that doesn't mean she doesn't want one. Being a strong independant woman doesn't mean you have to be single.

Melissa herself wished Kara could develop without being in a relationship, focusing more on herself, but soon after her and James break up Mon-El shows up. Now she's literally said that it's enough to be Supergirl and to have Mon-el, giving the impression that having a man is enough and not being Kara aside from Mon-El. Her character development has gone to complete shit. Now the focus is on Mon-el, and his 'mistakes' and how he's 'learning,' but he could never be a Hero with the mindset and morals that he STILL has. He said he likes being a hero so he can be with Kara, NOT because he truly wants to help people. So far all we've seen is them fight because of his mistakes, and then she continually has to forgive him. It's not a healthy relationship, and Kara deserves better.

But Kara was completely in the wrong this week? She overreacted as she tends to do. Also, given how he has acted towards his parents I don't see how his mindset and morals are NOT in line with a heroes. And the liking being a hero just to be closer to Kara would also be disproven now because of the shifting morals and mindset. At least that's how I think about it anyway. Don't know about others.

Koram I don't think Kara overreacted. MonEl should had told her who he really was from the beginning. But as she has said he didn't give her a chance to decide what she would had thought of him. He prejudiced her. And he said he didn't know if he would had ever told her the truth. That's not overreacting. That's not something you just forgive right away. But hopefully MonEl will get better soon. Because he is kinda funny.

But just about every other character on the show has lied to Kara over the course of the show. And all those lies are forgiven over the course of an episode or two. Just like this. I mean, Hank didn't tell them who he really was from the beginning, or tell them information on what happened to their father. And when that secret came out it was resolved fairly quickly. I don't really think Mon-El needs to get better. Or at least not much. He has gone through some growth, although some people refuse to see it in favor of fueling their dislike of him. Not trying to say that's you or the reviewer here that are doing it. Just some people I've encountered online.

Curtis Murphy One of the reasons people don't care for MonEl is he doesn't respect Kara's wishes. Example, when she said don't tell anyone that we're dating just yet. What did he do? Two seconds later he told the whole DEO they were dating. Some see that as cute, and or funny, others like myself don't. We see it as disrespecting her wishes. That is something he needs work on and change.

You should definitely watch the flash if you like the romantic aspects of this episode. Also, Grant Gustin sings a little bit in another episode of the flash. But the last scene is really impactful when you know Barry and Iris's backstory as a couple.

Why are you mad about the kara/mon el break up get back together.... the barry iris was much more sudden and barry's mistake a lot worse then what mon el did. I don't really want to bring gender into it but I have been watching a lot of reactions to this episode and have noticed a sad pattern... why do all the female reactors have issues with mon el? Is it the actor? Because their love story is pretty good character wise. He's from a place with an entirely different culture and is struggling to learn there is a better way with Kara's help... He only lied because he was scared what she would think of his past. Kara way over reacted which is what the writers were showing kara realizing in this episode. they've shown she is too stubborn for her own good on multiple occasions and I think she is finally realizing it.

It's not the actor, Chris Wood is great. It's all about how his character is written. Yes when you put their "love story" in that way it COULD have been an interesting story, but they're writing his character in a way that makes him insufferable. Throughout his relationship with kara he continually disrespects her and they always just argue and make up, having this toxic relationship. The revelation of his past showed how truly selfish he is, ditching his own people and the women he was sleeping with. He may be getting better, but he himself said he wants to be a "hero" to be with Kara, not because he actually wants to help people. He's still selfish, dishonest, and disrespectful and Kara deserves better.

i do agree the writers did an awful job with his character. especially all the lame one-liners about him not knowing the most mundane of earthly customs and vocabulary. maybe if it were an abstract phrase, but how the hell doesn't he know the word for "anonymous". it should be a universal term. they just make him across as being a dumb jock sometimes. although sometimes i do think I see what they were trying to do. i too am not too fond of his character, but i try to hold off on the constant criticism every time he comes on screen because quite frankly that gets annoying. it's like okay, we get it, he sucks. no need to beat us over the head with a hammer every time he shows up on screen. just pray the writers get their shit together and either completely overhaul his character or eliminate him and try again with a different love interest, if that's what they're hell bent on doing since it's a CW show. i mean she's strong enough not to need one and the plot would progress nicely. oh man and don't get me started on mon-el's track suit he uses a discount hero outfit/disguise. it's appalling. anyway, i'm rambling at this point.

Can't stand "Karamel" either. I don't even watch supergirl but I've seen enough clips to say they are just baaaad. The whole parallel the writers were aiming for in this episode between the couples took away from the West Allen scenes. The two couples don't even come close to the same level. West Allen are a healthy, mature couple that had TWO years of establishment. Not to mention nearly 20 years of history. Mon-El and kara have been together for what, a few episodes?? Such an insult for the writers to try and equate the two couples like this. I'm glad you liked the West Allen scenes.

Watch it, seriously. Its a fantastic TV show, the first half of season one drags on a little bit. It's not terrible, but once you hit episode 9, the show hits an incredible pace and hasn't really slowed since then.

Gotham and The Flash are the only superhero shows worth watching now, but I think The Flash jumped the shark with a musical. There's no reason to appeal just to chicks, brahs. I agree with +xXShadowXx in that the second half of season one of The Flash is good enough to be a few feature films. P.S. Grimm is an awesome show as well, but it's not based on a comic book, IIRC. The last episode of Season 5 was a 2 hour EPIC THAT WAS FULL OF ACTION AND SUSPENSE.

I enjoyed the duet episode as a male. It was a nice break from all of the super intense stuff going on. I don't think this show can ever top the second half of season 1 though. That was award winning writing and acting right there. Sometimes shows just have episodes that don't make sense to the canon for fun, and I enjoyed it for that. It was meant to be cheesy and stupid, because that's how musicals are. A lot of people are failing to see that for some reason
