Their lyrics are often absurd to some extent but the context of the gay theme here is that Massachusetts was the first US state, and the sixth jurisdiction in the entire world, to legalize same-sex marriage.

I guess this song/video, besides being funny and entertaining, also is kind of a tribute to Massachusetts for being the first state in the US to legalize same-sex marriage. And Ylvis never fails to dive into a new musical genre, and they are crushing it each time😄

Im from Massachusetts and this song is 100% accurate. Fun fact Nelson mandala was born in a small town only 8 K.M always from Boston. And when I say K.M I mean thousands miles

know some peeps from MA and they think its a fun song, despite some of the inaccurate parts (ie nelson mandela never lived in MA and Haverhill is pronounced wrong lol) some great ylvis songs in english i'd suggest checking out are "yoghurt" "language of love" "Superstar in norway" (full vid is on the Ylvis in spanish channel), "You're fucked", "Normal Boy" (only context needed here is he's playing justin bieber lol). they have so many fun english songs probs close to as many as they have in norwegian but i'd def recommend those too at some point cus even with captions they convey so much humor

Love me some Ylvis😅😍 It’s a great song where we can learn about the state👍😅 I don’t know anyone from Massachusetts unfortunately, never been to the USA. I have a BFF from California though, she enjoyed this song😊 They do have some great songs in Norwegian, but I’m not sure if there’s subtitles. I love especially “Ferjao” (ferry) where they sing about a local ferry and their love for it. Their little brother Bjarte is in it too👍 It’s on my workout playlist lol

To be fair... They don't sing about their love for the ferry. Bård sings about his love for it, and it's seriousley creeping out the other two xD I mean, my favourite line is Vegard singing: At first he talked about an homage to the ferry, but now he's stroking on a valve 😂 But I agree, that song is amazing.❤
