The connection with norse mythology in this anime is mind blowing. So basically Ymir enters Yggdrasil (tree of life) and become the first titan or Giant. If you see the connection in Norse myth, Yggdrasil connects all nine realms, including Jotunheim where giants live. If we look closer to the myth, you will find that Aurgelmir, also called Ymir, in Norse mythology, the first being, a giant who was created from the drops of water that formed when the ice of Nifhleheim met the heat of Muspelheim. And also according to the legend, some giants are also able to see the future, this explains the attack titan ability. Kudos to Hajime Isayama for his amazing imagination 👏

I’ve always found it quite eerie and tragic that Frieda wanted Historia to believe that being a lady was like being Ymir, especially since Frieda likely had access to memories that went back to Ymir’s life as the holder of the Founding Titan. Ymir Fritz’s life is not one that should be emulated by any means.

the whole story is about how bad extremist ideologies are. people like fritz are extremely selfish and cruel, while people like ymir are extremely self-sacrificing and passive. both contributed to the misery for the next 2000 years. perhaps frieda thought that if historia had to be one of those two evils, she should be the lesser one.

@mzftnight Жыл бұрын
Episode 1, the number of tree branches on which Eren dozed off is nine. Episode 1, the only page number written in this work is the 13th page of the first episode of Volume 1. Episode 87, The alias "owl" of Eren-Kruger, the Attack Titan heir, represents the number 13 in the ancient Egyptian language. The number 13 is considered an unlucky number in the West. In Norse mythology, when the gods held a banquet, they invited only 12 guests, but the 13th uninvited guest was a giant named Loki, and this giant triggered the final war known as Ragnarok. The year 1155 B.C., or 2000 years before 845 A.D., was the year that the Kassite dynasty fell in ancient Babylonia and the last pharaoh of ancient Egypt, Ramses III, died. Slavery was practiced in ancient Babylonia and ancient Egypt at that time, reminding us of the founder, Yumir, who lived in the era of slavery.

It's amazing how because of her desire to be loved,when she was given powers she decided to help the people that made her a slave to gain their favor and even let King Fritz become her master instead of exterminating them or becoming the ruler of the world,sad how she just bowed down to a man that only had greed in his heart

I really liked the ending but I have a different interpretation of the final scene. Seeing the child find the opening to the tree similar to how ymir did really made me feel like Eren became the centipede thing that ymir found and that the cycle of titans would begin again. I mean the creator clearly made the opening of Erens tree look like Ymirs tree intentionally. It also begs the question of how many cycles of titans there has been I mean just because Ymir is the first we see in the story doesn’t mean she was the first ever. It could be she was just the latest at that time to discover the power after countless advanced civilizations wiped each other out and restarted just like we see in the final scenes of the series. This is however my interpretation and to me makes the most sense.

Worth noting the titan power only existed because ymirs desires were to no longer feel small, to live, etc. So the giant and healing relates to that. The boy in the ending represents a new hope, in my opinion - while ymir fled dogs who bit her and arrows, she fell into the tree. The boy meanwhile has a pet dog he's probably good friends with accompanying him. I see the contrast as important, while humans are capable of great evil born from suffering, aot is also full of heroes. And perhaps the boy is one too

The wosrt part of al??? According to the show, when a shifter dies his titan is passed automatically to another member of the Eldian folk, and the real reason why the royal family ate each other was to control the founding titan inheritance. That means that when ymir was killed by the spear, her daughters obtained naturally her power as they were the only Eldians at that point. That basically means Rose, Sina and Maria were forced to eat their mothers corpse for no reason, as they already had the titans
@Adsper200011 ай бұрын
We don’t know if that started after Ymir’s power was split apart or before. After all, if Ymir’s power automatically went to her daughters, it only would have gone to one of them, not all.
@joisaita652210 ай бұрын
bruh you are completely making shit up titan powers started to pass on from consuming Ymir's body + fritz's desire
@MrMusanna3 ай бұрын
One of the toughest things to acquire freedom is to convince slaves that they should be free. Ymir was a slave in body and soul. She was given power which she could have used for her freedom but she chose to let it be exploited by a tyrant. She’s by no means noble, just a nobody who became a tool for tyrants to exploit.
@gravel9270Ай бұрын
Considering the Eldians existed before Ymir and that the term "Subjects of Ymir" only refer to her descendants, means Eldians and Subjects of Ymir are not always synonymous with each other. This would explain why some lineage like the Ackermans cannot be affected by the Founding Titan's scream despite being Eldians themselves. The Ackermans are indeed Eldians because Eren was able to talk to the Ackermans through the path. Those non-Subject of Ymir Eldians are probably the descendants of the other Eldians who did not bred with Ymir and her descendants or those who came from King Fritz and her other wives.

Maybe the whole reason the curse kills after 13 years in the first place is because that's how long she lived after becoming a titan. She wasn't limited by it; she founded the limit as a curse upon those who used her power and kept the cycle going.

Its interesting to note that Ymir could've really just gotten back up after being speared in the heart if she wanted... or maybe it staying there is what causes her to fully die? Regardless, it seems like she willingly dies because she believed she would finally be free for once in her life. Only to then be met with the "paths" where she never got the peace she wanted, instead, forced to roam it for a near eternity, never being allowed to interact with her children after, nor allowed to explore the world. Stuck in basically an eternal desert. Where all she can do is create more or new titans. Often by the orders of the new founding titan that had taken the power... still never free of slavery until Eren shows up hundreds to thousands of years later.

It's strange to me that someone like Eren actually understood Ymir, he is the embodiment of extreme freedom, to the extent he was a slave to it, but in his mind, he always saw himself as free, people like Ymir and her warped love and obedience to her captor should make her one of the people that Eren hates the most yet he not understood her emotions but sympathized with her too.

And gave the Eldians the future that was stolen from them. And to be fair, the Rumbling was the only way it was ever going to end. Ymir and Eren really did save the world by ending the various empires which were all too happy to see the Eldians slaughtered.
