Dracula has been “re-evaluated” in retrospect and is held in much higher regard than it used to be. Idk if it’s really deserved though. People seem to focus on highlighting the costumes and cinematography above all else. You don’t hear so much about the script and performance, which in my opinion kinda sucks Dracula’s nuts.

Francis Ford Coppola is a pretty vile and awful man. Aside from the known misconduct allegations, he allegedly threatened to ruin the career of a child actor who was abused by a director he was mentoring and whose films he produced. Also this whole "my movies have always been divisive" is bs. For the longest time, particularly in the late 60s and all throughout the 70s, he was one of the most critically acclaimed filmmakers of his generation.

THIS. It's honestly insane to try to frame the original reception of The Godfather as mixed to negative, when that film was widely celebrated the instant it came out. For fuck's sake, it literally won three Oscars that following year, including Best Picture. Hell, even Apocalypse Now, a film that was more polarizing when it came out, still ended up getting eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and later winning two of those nominations. FFC's ego is so large it makes James Cameron look humble in comparison.

I guess squares are associated with freemasonry too, but they're also employed by artisans and other people who want to make angles and straight lines. I saw Dracula in the theatre when it came out, and am startled at how many people think it is underappreciated. Yes, the costumes and art direction were beautiful. But the story and editing were choppy and most of the acting was hammy. Even Winona and Keanu fans were giggling at them. Maybe a hammy old silent movie was supposed to be the style.

What sucks is this was actually kind of a good idea. We all know critics are bullshit so a trailer that legitimately highlights how shitty their taste is and how out of touch they are would've been a nice f you to them.

I agree with ChatGPT about the Godfather, its well made but it is TOTALLY self-indulgent (I mean the Mafia was all over the production of this movie and had major creative control over the project) Francis Ford Coppola is overrated and this movie looks like a turd. With that said, I would love to see Adam Driver as Caesar in a movie that ACTUALLY about Rome.

I just saw it today. And i will say it is a weird film. But i have mix fealing. It is definitely beautiful and some of the acting is great. But the dialogue is weird and the story is confusing and definitely a movie that wants to be watch more. But it is his own money so i can not be mad about it
