I’d love to see a “track with me” kind of video! I just found YNAB and your videos have helped me so much!

The YNAB intro, plus the "oh shit" category in your budget, and NOW I see the "DEBT IS MORALLY NEUTRAL" in the background... you are precisely the vibe I need as I start to get on top of my finances as a self-employed, ADHD riddled, 54 year old musician with tons of debt and nothing saved for retirement. Seriously, you've got me delighted to be looking and things differently and I'm so grateful for your work!

it’s cool that you address on which “end” you do your savings. I actually do it the other way around! I use YNAB for my business. That helps me split out my invoices for taxes, agent, biz expenses, retirement etc. Then my personal budget doesn’t have a YNAB. I just send myself money for bills to one acount, and then money for a weekly “allowance” to another account. The micromanagement of YNAB categories was too overwhelming for me, I don’t care if i spend my allowance on takeout or a concert, i prefer a weekly amount that i know i can finish.

I've been budgeting in an Excel spreadsheet for like 10 years, but finally decided to try out YNAB this week and loving it so far! I was wondering if you had any tips on how to budget my paycheque in YNAB when I mostly get paid every 4 months + get sporadic, variable paycheques biweekly and/or monthly (I'm a PhD student with a couple of PT jobs so my income is complicated haha). Thanks so much!

YNAB is perfect for people with random income streams! You don't have to plan for a whole month ahead of time like other budgets, you just only need to budget the income you have and tell your money what it needs to do. You don't budget imaginary money, just the money you know you have in your possession at the moment.

Thanks for another great video. I’m restarting as well. Problem I’m having - I have my mortgage, car payment and 2 other fixed expenses set to pay Bi-weekly each time I get paid. I can not figure out how to put this in unless I make them 2 mortgage 2 car etc. do you have suggestions?
