Really enjoyed hearing more about Shea’s theater job. I can see why they rely on her a lot, she can do a little bit of everything!
@justfinance33623 күн бұрын
She is a superhero for that theatre for sure. She’s also taking some workshops this year to learn ANOTHER THING. She can’t be stopped!!

Ladies, it is a pleasure seeing you being flabbergasted by your own success with this month ahead and student debt journey! Congratulations! I would love to have more frequent paychecks, but here in Germany a normal job gets you paid once per month. I guess this is why I like watching when you assign your dollars to current and future life.

Getting paid once a week is one of my favorite things about living in NYC. We appreciate having you here to get your budgeting fix!

Oohhh I like the idea of a Grocery Restock category for those larger purchases since they aren't weekly things :) I am going to try the same going forward!
@justfinance33622 күн бұрын
We love it!! We used to budget 125 a week for groceries, but then we would be so bummed when one of those large purchases blew our week. So now it’s 100 a week for regular spending and 25 a week for restock. Zero changes to amounts, just how we look at it!

Yes I added that to my YNAB budget after seeing it here!

A fun video! Watching you geek out was a delight. I had fun with my budget today, hubby got a small pay raise this year, AND they gave him backpay! Wahoo, and so we had a lump sum to allocate. Over coffee hubby and I decided about where to put it, what to boost - auto repair, home improvement and big adventures were winners. I also gave us each a little pay (fun money) increase. What a day to be alive and YNAB'g! #budgetnerd alert!

I totally feel you on not having enough time to get your work done because I'm in the same situation at my job. I'm developer lead on my team and they're always reaching out to me for help. I love my co-workers and appreciate they value my opinion, but it doesn't leave me with time to get my own stuff done and I constantly feel behind 😂 Congratulations on your progress for your month ahead and student loans though! That is so exciting 🎉

I absolutely love watching how excited y'all are at the month ahead fund. I will say I got an email a little while ago saying that interest was paused until September? Might want to look into that. If you haven’t already, could you please do a video on how the both of you combined your finances legal-wise and on YNAB? Did you keep your individual checking accounts or did you open a joint checking account after you got married? I’ve been using YNAB for 3 years and now that I’m engaged, I want to include my fiance’s accounts on YNAB so that I have a holistic view of our finances as we move towards getting married. I’m looking for advice on how to approach this part of finances :)

We have it attached to a stand to provide a wider base and help avoid that, but we for sure need a more secure and long term solution for it.

I"m not sure in NYC if your power company does a Average Monthly Plan where it sets your budget bill up based on the average of your last 12 months of electricity bills. That helps keep me on track.
@justfinance33624 күн бұрын
That is essentially what we are doing just within our category instead of through the power company! We looked at our average 12 months of spending and budget that every month :)

Well done ladies! Very well done! That said… one small piece of constructive criticism… for someone on a health journey, who is looking to lose weight, and in particular looking to reduce her future cancer risk… I can say, unequivocally, based on over 30 years of experience in the field, “upping your booze budget” is absolutely the wrong move. I’m not telling you to abstain entirely (although, that would be radically healthier)… but more moderation rather than less, is always a sounder approach when it comes to mitigating risk.
@justfinance33624 күн бұрын
You aren't wrong! We upped the budget to match the spending, but definitely weren't happy to see the total number, which is why we are working on "under spending" the target!
@StephanieHana69Күн бұрын
@ Good for you! My comment wasn’t about $$$, but rather about volume… but moderating both always helps. Keep it going ladies, you’re doing great!
