Dang, he was SO young back then, I was one year from graduating HS at this point, and I was listening to everything he was putting out. Still love YJM!
hey guys instead of talking shit, appreciate the fact that hes still around releasing albums. Can you imagine what he's been through?! and hes still shredding. hes a fucking Maestro
@VashStampede8111 жыл бұрын
Yngwie is somewhat arrogant based off of what I have seen, but also has a good heart and is a hell of a guitar player. I know one thing, Vai and Satriani do shows with him, and they seem like nice people who are easy going. I think that he just has an image that he likes to keep.
@z1g4 жыл бұрын
Funny how people confuse confidence with arrogance, but I am sure you communicate in two languages on a daily basis.
@Ogscottyp4 жыл бұрын
YJM was an extremely arrogant price in those days. It was his image. The song " The Fury" says it all. He laughs about it now looking back on his young, dumb cockiness, explaining on a long flight he was being bothered by the peasants on the flight when he jumped up and shouted " YOU HAVE UNLEASHED THE FOOKIN FURY!!!" 🤭
@wattage2007 Жыл бұрын
I think he's pretty misunderstood. I reckon he gets annoyed that all people aren't hyper-competent like him and that the music industry has always been a sham and pretty much devoid of actual music for some time now. That's enough to drive someone as gifted as him insane!

Wow...different Yngwie here! He seems so much more laid back and less arrogant than he is nowadays. Funny, he really started acting that way after Odyssey came out. Hmm maybe the car crash made him start thinking that way?0_o
@PrinceWesterburg9 жыл бұрын
+Steven Vertucci Aaah, this was recorded before the car crash he had which mullered his brain an turned him into a seriously obsessive and sociopathic personality, as it does so many. Its good to see the original Yngwie, before he lost that fluid guitar playing. Lost? Yes, compare the first three albums with the stuff after that, i remember at the time everyone was like 'What is this s**t?' and people stopped listening, but he got a different audience after that.
@PrinceWesterburg9 жыл бұрын
Thats right, I remember at the time he said he couldn't even hold a plectrum for six weeks! He was speeding in his Jaguar and someone pulled out in front of him. Thats why he's a Ferrari nut now - he wouldn't have crashed if he had one back then :o/
@Mcrapansel8 жыл бұрын
his world got destroyed in that year... 1987, he had the crash and his mother died... kinda obvious why he changed his attitude. He went more in the fuck off direction which is totally understandable
@PrinceWesterburg8 жыл бұрын
Aah, its to do with suffering serious trauma and I've seen it in several other people who have survived near-fatal bike crashes. Don't forget Yngwie used to go out to bars and start fights as a hobby long before the crash. I think he had it coming! LOLz
@olivier8836 жыл бұрын
I think he have unlished his intern demons. I imagine him chained to a hospital bed with only himself and his thoughts. His manager left with his money, his haus crashed, mother Has passed away and there he was, alone, afraid, and just being angry on the whole world. That's when true Yngwie died and new one was forget out of anger and selfbelief pushed to the point of arrogance. Wow, I finally understand him. Peace my Brother.

i have to disagree,man,malmsteen deserves the respect of any ten other rock stars i can think of--and i'm a huge fan of so many of them! he's a total monster,and he ain't done yet--altho he's definitely got his own distinctive style that ain't gonna change a lot,-or so it would seem by now...but it's still hard to stay so damn good,so accurate,when you get old-it takes more than before! i agree that maybe he could use a fresh inspiration--who couldn't?

I'm Scandinavian by birth and in America many caucasians that are not directly of Anglo - Saxon , but Germanic descendants Like Swedes , Norwegian or Danish are sometimes considered to have very wide faces and somewhat larger and round heads which makes our faces appear that much larger . Many of us are healthy and not fat and alot of us girls are tall in comparison to British , English, German and French girls . Alot of famous actresses and models are of Scandinavian descent like Mailn Ackerman and Kristanna Loken for example :) A wide face does not a fat person make ! Yngwie is not fat here , but Just a Swede and would be considered a good looking guy in any of the Scandinavian countries not to mention the Netherlands . Someone said that one lady must like his looks . because he is white ? Lets focus on his playing perhaps . He is arrogant I admit , however I fail to see his being fat or inept ? Namaste Rebecca

I don't have a "negative attitude" about musicians at all; I merely tend to take an unfavorable view of individuals with egos that threaten to overshadow their own (sometimes rather meager) accomplishments. Sometimes, you have to remind such individuals that they are not as great as they seem to think they are. It's good stuff for the soul and helps to ground those with tendencies to get caught up in their own delusions of grandeur. My opinion and nothing more.

It's rather disappointing to hear that you're a music teacher yet have this kind of negative attitude toward musicians. Of course he speaks about this stuff as though it actually really matters. It's how he makes his living. It is his life. It allowed him to see the world and it's how he managed to capture the attention of millions of people around the world. I couldn't name a Justin Beiber song, or a Jay Z song... but it doesn't mean that these are people that don't matter.

Being voted #1 doesn't imply that a comment is 100% true. It's just your opinion. My theory is that a bunch of guys like you voted it #1 because it's easier to hate on Yngwie that to appreciate his overall contribution to the guitar world. I still don't see you making youtube videos with inspiring licks and riffs, so maybe you go and work on that... you freakin' fartblaster :P I'm outta here.
All of you people saying yngwie is a ego filled person, he comes from sweden or somewhere or und there and is probably 91 percent norse or scandinavian blood cuz vikings went over the whole celtic area and mated with people. So he probably has the pride and boastfullnes of vikings. ( VIKING was a job title, the word VIKING is what sea raids are called. So people just started calling them Vikings!!! I'd say twenty years constitutes a fair amount of time, yes. I'm a music teacher, but rarely, actually never have I had much exposure or interest in polka, traditional European-style, or otherwise. I don't have anything against it, but I'm quite certain it is a legitimate form of music, as Mr. Malmsteen's is. I just don't happen to particularly care for that style of playing. I happen to prefer rhythm-oriented guitar playing-clever chord progressions, grooves and great, hook-y riffs, etc.
@hullan66613 жыл бұрын

I will concede that I could have rephrased what I wrote, to say "really matters as much as he thinks it does", instead of "really matters." Of course it matters, but not nearly to the extent he would like to think, otherwise he would not have as many detractors as he does. Additionally, his music has not dated particularly well at all and will likely forever be mired in the 1980's-not the most flattering way to be regarded, again, my opinion.
@AWGMJANS11 жыл бұрын
Yngwie is truly amazing as a guitar player. As a person he always seemed kinda like an arrogant basterd to me. I recently read his book "Relentless". I got even more respect for this guy. Not just as a musician but also because of his strong character. Carry on Yngwie! Time to get back to the Netherlands for some gigs!
