I was at this game in the kop I was only 13 years old, when the third goal went in the and the crowd surged forward I was crushed, up against the barrier. I could barely breath and yet at the same time I was ecstatic. The old film doesnt capture the sheer volume that was coming from the kop with that Liv-erp-ool chant there where 25,000 people behind that goal and 25,000 singing with pure passion. Magical days. .

Philip Brown am a die hard fan, went on a game (super cup) had many kits & matchdays gears and a signed photo from the god (fowler) & i’ve been a fan since 10 years, so would you consider me a tourist if i ever came to anfield?
@johnholmes81782 жыл бұрын
@@kopthelotklopp1523 Actually, it's mostly full of superannuated scousers, rambling on about the old days of Shankly and Paisley, leaving 10 minutes before the end, and generally contributing nothing to the atmosphere.
@kopthelotklopp15232 жыл бұрын
@@Ex_muzzie I probably would yes. A day tripper. That's not a criticism. Liverpool needs the foreign fans for revenue, I get that. What annoys me is people from all over the world get champions league final tickets and people that go to 40 games a season often do not. Which is outrageous.
@tofuteh23482 жыл бұрын
@@kopthelotklopp1523 that's on the owners and capitalism. The hundreds of millions of foreign liverpool fans are of course working class, myself included. Contributing to the atmosphere, screaming our hearts out at anfield or a CL final is an unobtainable and unaffordable DREAM that all of us will die without achieving. Its the very small minority of rich folks that are there to just have insta pics.

I was there that day. It was the new Shankly team. Gone were the old guard of Yeats St John Lawrence. But Cally and Lawler still had a lot to offer. Soon this team would be Champions. And it set our club on an amazing run of history to the present day. I'm still there every game loving how the song has helped keep my club right at the top.

To be able to play like George Best or Peter Thompson with those heavy balls and muddy pitches shows they had BETTER technique !!!.....and though there were many HARD players there was no diving in the All-British Teams and many Liverpool players, for example, like Thompson/Dalglish/Rush etc STILL attend since their 1980's era. Can you imagine some current players attending in 30+ years time? ME NEITHER !

@sophyxsmith In 1964 the Liverpool group Gerry and The Pacemakers released You'll Never Walk Alone which was played at Anfield at every game. The crowd joined in and have been singing it ever since! It was automatically adopted by the fans because it represents the real feeling towards the team, that no matter what the fans will be behind them and they will never walk alone.

It seems to have mostly died out. Because after awhile when a team would chant its name slowly (it used to be much slower than even here), the other team's fans would yell "STINKS!" So the fans chanting their team's name would over the next couple of decades chant their team's name faster and more aggressively so that the other team's fans wouldn't have time to yell "STINKS!" So eventually the slow way of chanting a team's name mostly died out
