After wrapping up the Nothing recording session. Yo La Tengo booked a dinner at the tiny Soho restaurant I worked at to celebrate. At the time, I had been taking reservations on the phone during the day. Georgia Hubley called and made a reservation for dinner. I knew what was going on. I think I sent them dessert 🙏🙏🙏

People often think this song is about anxiety, and sure anxiety is in there, but.. This song is about a wedding and he has cold feet. the thing he will have to say is vows and “i do” and he would rather say nothing, but to just be in the moment with her without titles. No wedding dress needed, just her autumn sweater. this is also why the room is crowded, he can’t hide because he is the groom.. unmissable. the waves are her tears from him not feeling like committing fully, not wanting marriage, just to be. but they cant be like it was in the beginning. There I have explained the whole song.
