Can this lure be cast from the beach (surf fishing), or because of the weight will it just sink to the bottom and scrape the sand while you're reeling it in?

Hi @runntum. It definitively will cast a loooong way. One of the good things it has is that, if you reel it in fast you will get a "banana popper" effect. It will create a commotion in the water. You could also figure out your reeling speed so it doesn't "just sink to the bottom...". It is a great lure. As with any other, one has to learn its tricks. Hope this helps.
