@LeTzPlaY100 Жыл бұрын
I'd say that the JP ver hits harder. They have the same message but the subtitles make more sense. In EN, they have to substitute some lyrics with suboptimal words just so it fits in the melody. Especially the part where aqua and ruby were mentioned. It was so good in JP but in EN it's meh. So yeah i wish you guys reacted to the JP ver again after the first ep. Anyway, good reaction. I just think the lyrics and melody don't hit as hard as JP ver.
@chaoseater999 Жыл бұрын
If you notice closely, there are 3 verses in the whole song. The first verse seems to be on Ai from the fan's perspective. The second verse from her B Komachi team mates. And 3rd and final verse is from Ai's perspective.
@manareikitsu4398 Жыл бұрын
Actually the first two verse is from a certain member from her idol group based on the short novel “45510” by the Author. I believe ppl made translations for the short novel already so just search it up and give it a read, the novel puts more insight and info about Ai based on her team member’s perspective
@lyrablack9169 Жыл бұрын
I think there are 4 verses actually The first one is Ai from the perspective of the general media. It then cuts to the POV of the girl in B Komachi whose POV it was in the short novel "45510". Then it cuts to the perspective of Ai from her fans: the unrivaled, perfect one and only idol who has no faults at all. The last verse is Ai from Ai's perspective (about her secrets, her perception on love and how she finally said "I love you" to her kids).
@calvinacedera61196 ай бұрын
In the second verse if you have read the manga. There is a chapter that aqua is creating a movie to expose his father (hikaru kamiki) to take revenge and stuff so the part of the manga is when nino (one of the B-komachi group) showed up in the set to check on what's going on and when ruby came out of her room after applying make up nino went to shock and kinda cried and ran away. She told the truth that she's filled with jealousy and envi to Ai.
@MrEnvisioner Жыл бұрын
If you were not aware, the OP & ep 1 both have more meaning when you learn that "Ai", her name, translates to "love". In early episode 1, Ai is talking with her doctor on the roof and says, "Lies are love." Directly, it is "ai wa uso" meaning, literally, "(speaking of) love, (it is / they are) lie(s)". But interpreted differently, since "love" is her name, she's simultaneously saying that SHE, "Ai" is a lie (as a whole). Very interesting wordplay.
@AnthonyKagegariVT Жыл бұрын
Her name as a whole is a wordplay on multiple levels in the manga/anime her name is spelled using katakana which obviously looks like the word eye in English and Hoshino can be interpreted as wild star or star field so when read like a traditional Japanese name it’s “Wild Star Eye” or “Star Field Eye” but it doesn’t end there as Hoshino could be a play on words of Hoshiino in this case as it means “Desire of” and when read with her name Ai in Kanji meaning love as you pointed out it’s read as “Desire of Love”

I think this song hits so close to home, because without emotional nourishment like love all of can see how we could become like her without having the right conditions met at such a young age and I’m sure there’s people who directly relate to Ai’s situation. Her entire life was a tragedy until she had those kids. In the first episode when we hear her inner monologue she says that her mom not only left her behind after she went to jail, but abused her as well…she would rather be at the group home than be hit. There’s two short stories about the other members of her idol group out there that Akasaka also wrote that aren’t translated officially into English. And it’s absolutely crazy. In one, she’s said to hate white rice and it’s reveled in that story it’s because her mom tried to put broken glass in her white rice when she was younger. And the other was that she got an interview (which they do in Japan) to be adopted by other members of her family, but it’s not mentioned why but they refused her. So it’s kind of amazing that she turned out to be such a loving and doting mother regardless and that she was genuinely happy in her short and tragic life. I’m very skeptical it will happen but I hope the manga ends with her reborn as Ruby’s daughter or whoever Aqua ends up with’s daughter. Completing the circle of trauma and also the circle that the story started with Ai and also ends with Ai too. That’s my hope.

I used to perform on stage for 7 years, so I have a little bit of perspective from a performer's POV When you get on stage and the performance begins it really is like flipping a switch. The moment before you step on stage and the moment you step off the stage can be like entering/exiting two different worlds. Ai is such an interesting character because from my perspective it seemed like at some point she stepped off the stage and never stopped performing. I loved the perspective we got in Episode 1 from her where she said "I will just say the correct thing before even thinking" because that really felt to me like she was always in performance mode. It's also (obviously) really sad because it would imply that she was always performing, never resting, and never got to discover her 'true self'. On the other hand, she also says that lying is how she expresses her love - so maybe it is her true self? I love it, she's such a complex character despite how simple and straightforward she appears.

What I really love about the english version is that it not only stays true to the japanese lyrics in terms of content but also that they were able to use words that are phonetically similar. When you guys were talking about how Ruby got her positivity from Ai, I think both siblings got two halves of Ai. Ai's optimism and naïveté got carried on in Ruby and that analytical side of Ai that knows how to control media and how to wear the perfect smile on stage, is so Aqua. Both siblings might need the other side to be better balanced like their mom in the future

The singer is from Japan, but she moved to Chicago when she was 3, and learned both Japanese from her parents and English from school. This means shes both technically a native Japanese and English singer. She’s in such high demand in Japan because of her bilingualism. She’s also one of very very few Japanese singers who makes English covers of her own songs.

@RedDawnRocker Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how true this is but I've seen it posted elsewhere that the vocalist of Yoasobi was born in the U.S. and lived there until she was 3 or 4. If this is in fact true it would make sense that English may have been a 2nd language in her houusehold growing up. The English lyrics weren't written by the band though but were written by someone else. One thing I've noticed that may or may not be coincidental is how Ai's name is directly linked to her career and the careers of her children A(ctress)I(dol). Each child got one starry eye and each got 1/2 of Ai's talent/career path. With the genius writing behind this show I wouldn't doubt this was more than coincidental.

The incredible aspect of this seemingly unnatural English translation is that it not only aligns with the sounds of the Japanese language but also with the meaning of the story. Furthermore, after listening to the Japanese version several times, when you listen to the English version, there are parts where it sounds like Japanese despite being in English. This part of the lyrics sounds Japanese for some reason. ENG"That emotion melts"=JPN"daremoga mewo". ENG"Completely deny"=JPN"kanpekijanai"
