It does big time in regard to the people that listen to this kind of music. Sadly it's too heavy for the average person. Imagine if it was the norm to listen to music like this? Would lose it's specialness imo but perhaps the world would be a better place. Haha

@@SymposiumOfGoose Yes and no, Ryan. The world would be a better place, I expect, and not all people could handle so much intensity without doubt, but all sound can be beautiful in the right dose!! There often seems to be something special in a 3-piece format that drives all players to maximum achievement. This is one of the bands that sounds like the music I would make myself - if I only could!! But I fear - for better or worse - inside my head sounds a bit like this most of the time, I think!! Helps to get it out!! haha. Merry Christmas!

My God. I always thought the original mastering gave this album a bit of charm, but being able to hear _everything_ that is going on, and with the presence of bass that just wasn't there on the original (well, it was, but it was very muddy)... incredible. My jaw dropped with every track.

Best heavy stuff heard this year.....this Atma Remix and The Raging River by Cult of Luna. Both albums have inspired me to get hold of their whole catalogues. They both for me push what sludge, doom and atmosphere can be into the realms of high art. Magnificent bands. The atmospheric textural qualities, heart and singing prowess is for me deeply inspiring!🎸❤️‍🔥🖤

I've been listening to this album since 2013 and only now realized that's Scott Kelly on BWDOT. Literally heard it hundreds of times without connecting the dots, even when Neurosis has been in constant rotation the whole time. I guess that says something about the remix.

Whuuuut my favorite Yob album gets a remaster??? I thought this was on Profound Lore, how did Relapse snap up this gem?? I feel lucky to own the original 2011 CD. I like the muddiness of the production of the original, it gives it its own kind of vibe. This mix is clearer and brighter which is great, but that's kind of losing the charm of the original for me. Its good to have both 😌 choice is good! And I love this art too, so nice.

I'm gonna get through both versions but my initial reaction is similar to what you're saying. The original was intentionally messy/muddy and that added some character to the album even if it meant you didn't hear everything quite so clearly. And ya, having both options is great!
