Yob got me through some terrifying times this past year. I was hopeless. This album was the soundtrack to that hopelessness. Homeless, drunk, sitting in my car listening to this album. It floored me. It put me out of my head, brought tears to my eyes and completely reflected the desolation I felt when I was ready to die. I am doing well now and my thinking is positive. My life, so much better. I listened to this song tonight and it brings me joy. Here in my apartment, surrounded by positivity and light...this song, that once felt as bleak as old me, finds new me smiling and staring hopefully at new horizons. Yob and I have a strange partnership. If they knew they saved a life....man. One of the most powerful albums ever written.

I know this sounds silly to some, but my cat of 10+ years passed away yesterday. This song has been on shuffle the entire night, and in my sleep I could swear I felt the little dudes footsteps on my back-- only to wake to an absolute emptiness inside. This song feels like the perfect soundtrack to how I feel right now.

I feel an overwhelming sense of closure and remembrance following a death of a close family member when I hear this, almost as a premonition for how I feel it will be when I lose a parent, and in a way it ruins the track for me, but at the same time the main chorus just chills me to the bone and I love it all at the same time. YOB = Love

@HiddenFormula6 жыл бұрын
You can't really compare the two...such different styles but I guess they tread a similar path....they both play emotional, intense, spiritual metal that exists outside of genre norms/conventions, but they have a different approach. Neurosis explores the deepest, darkest parts of your mind and lets you experience it full on (styistically more rooted in hardcore and Swans). YOB is more of a cathartic process, to transition from darkness into beauty (stylistically more rooted in trad metal, stoner and progressive rock). As a heavy music fan I find they both have a huge impact on my life, almost healing music despite the darkness in the music. No need to say one is better than the other though. They are brothers in arms showing the world how metal can be emotionally charged and introspective, not just about riffs, horror or flashy musicianship (although I do love that old school metal).
@wastelander10156 жыл бұрын
@@HiddenFormula i wasnt comparing bands, its just this song in particular that has a Neurosis feel. For example, its similar in feeling and structure to A Season in the Sky. ;)
