One can't pick and choose only one song from from Lateralus to experience without a GREAT faux pas. Even The Grudge has continuity. Some of 10,000 Days are the same. Opiate was the album for singles. This progression is a true masterpiece, as is the rest of this album and it will be passed down to my children, as my 4 yr old daughter is already verbally showing her excitement on top of throwing up the Rock and Roll sign everytime Vicarious, The Grudge or Fear Innoculum starts to play. I'm a kickass dad. :)

Just have to be careful because that sign isn't for rock n roll. It was actually made famous by Anton lavey, who was the founder of the church of satan. Same. It was 1997. My best friend (RIP CMK)*told* me about the band. And she introduced me to Kyuss and Mad Season... I bought OPIATE just weeks after I heard Stinkfist. . . And I have all their albums but that last hilariously 109€ prized gold&titan folded upper-middle-class supersilver jewek box-edit if that shit. Normal one wasn't available. I don't buy things via nermt as all who want to kull all normal record stores. Sadly there's 103% too much of them. Idiots. But I heard Stinkfist first... streamed 1996-97 on our computer class where has internet connection 😂 And that quality was like phone line. Into the reality it was that stage. WMA was near 8Mt/s as transferred to a MP3's. Maybe 16/s. And thesw days I use only 302=s of FLAC or Wav. Oh those days. The weathers change... Soon it's permanent. Me and my baby momma broke up; I fought so hard for something that wasn't right for me. The more tool I listen to (Fear Inoculum and The Holy Trinity), the more I reflect on what I'm actually feeling...... I had a feeling of loneliness wash over me. I ran from it; I've always been running from it. But stopping and digging deep into this feeling turns into a feeling of emptiness. It is weirdly comforting. When I take all the chains that bind me in life and all types of association with anything and everything. I'm left with emptiness. Not in a nihilistic way, but more like we are emptiness. We are nothing; it's a scary thought. But when you dive into reflection, everything is emptiness. Most interpret this as depressing, I feel. But it isn't; it is a beautiful feeling. A beautiful outlook on life, emptiness. We are nothing but small atoms in this crazy cycle of humanity. Maybe we would have world peace if everyone realized we are all whole, in the presence of emptiness.

Especially with them exposing the elites subliminally. My first concert seeing them was October of 2019 when the band killing joke opened for them. Before leaving the stage just before TooL came on, the lead singer said something along the lines of, "something big is coming. Big change is coming. You see the messages in your airport (Denver/DIA)." I recommend looking it up. Also, "fear inoculum" is basically to fear vaccines, to put it brief. Even their logo for that album forms a syringe when you fold it in half horizontally.

@GDJ113 absolutely. No wasted notes, no overcomplication. I'll take the Comfortably Numb solo on repeat in my head until I die over the entire Yngwie catalog. I love that Tool kinda subverts the metal tropes-- the drummer is the one soloing, the guitarist is providing the ambience and tone of the song, and the bassist usually plays the main riff. All while the singer is in the furthest-back stage position.
@Bullet445 ай бұрын
@@NoName-cz3wnThat's a unique way to put it. I remember trying to mimic the vicarious main riff when I first learned guitar. I had no clue that Justin Chancellor was basically playing the main riff behind Adam Jones's guitar. That's what gives it that incredible 'whole' sound. Ever since then, I improvise a bit to make it sound similar because I'm not cool enough to have an incredible bassist to assist me, [laughs].

Every Tool album is a step up in Spiritual evolution. I didn't quite like the first albums Opiate and Undertow for their personal anti-religious themes, save for some songs like Sober, Disgustipated & secret song 69. But once they released Aenima and Lateralus, and they're latest album Fear Inoculum, Pneuma being the height of enlightenment, I understood their evolutionary process. It resonates with the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, which is Nondualism. 🌀

Or I created all these albums by saying so between 6th grade in the mid '80s and 1997 plus a stint in 2003 plus writing letters to the band on their website when it was working and it doesn't have anything to do with anything except my own personal anger and views combined with their work effort and musicianship

Yeah.....i don't care what anybody says - the last 3 tracks on Lateralus is just one big song in 3 parts...... (....and that's the way i will always listen to them)

I think they called it The Holy Trinity but at the time the record company said they need to make it shorter so they just ended up cutting it up and released it as 3 separate songs on the album

^ a shirt does wonders. I have like 8 and every now and then when I wear one I’ll meet a fellow TOOLhead. Tattoos too, Alex Grey’s works make for really nice tats.

God, i love that guitar riff on Reflection. Ive tried to play it myself on electric, but the timing is so odd it sounds comlletely wrong- even though im hitting all the notes. Strangely beautiful and moves my soul in a way similar to Rotten Apple by AIC
