This song was in my blood long before I ever heard of this album...

The year was 2004 and I was working at a call center (go figure) in Boise when along came this guy from Roseburg, completely down to earth and full of life. Soon we found out that we had similar musical tastes. During our conversations during break, kickin' the hackey sack he asked me if I was into The Obsessed of which I adamantly replied that I was. He then let me in on an Oregon band who he had witnessed live that had completely blew his mind. It wasn't long after that I moved to California and lost contact. If you're out there Pete my brother,thanks for introducing me to one of the greats that is YOB.

@HlebHD hey, i went there and looked if it's indeed true. IMO that's one of the best albums of 21st century. I wouldn't be shocked, but be pleasantly surprised if it was ranked first among mainstreem media. After googling it seemed like rolling stone did award them the first place, but in fact it was me just misinterpreting the date, 1 dec 2014, their piece was published. What happened is rolling stone did put them in the list, but on 50th place. Well, that's still some recognition.

@grantholomeu37254 жыл бұрын
That's my alarm in the morning. 15 seconds of calm speaking, and if that doesn't wake me up, the massive guitar rip will.
I first heard this when I was dead tired at midnight. A friend of mine, someone who'd given me plenty of music recs before, told me to listen to this. So I did. And at the 12 minute mark, I heard those words. *Time to wake up.* And with that, the fabric of reality was torn apart.

+andrew minard I did last year, it was one of the craziest experiences I've seen at a show, the crowd was mostly older! Like avg 35-40. Even some way older people, everyone was swaying back and forth, not talking just 'feeling it' some people openly wept. Its therapy!

What is reality? Obviously, noone can say, because it isn't word. It isn't material, that's just an idea. It isn't spiritual, that's also an idea. TIME TO WAKE UP

@rochefort61219 жыл бұрын
Just because something is spoken of in terms of words or ideas it doesn't mean they don't accuratley map to reality. Science assumes reality is material and it is the most reliable mechanism we have in discerning the truth of things. There is no reason given here to believe otherwise other than we express what we know in words so what we know is necessarily unknown and untrue.

Everything you just said is just words, therefore just ideas. When you are silent, "it" speaks.

Entry XIIXV - "We have created a terrible thing in the search for divination. It ripped though the soul of deacon and infected the very foundations of stone below us. The last of the acolytes have been laid to rest in the great chapel but the creature got there before we could. They are lost to the maelstrom of the fire we created. We must forgo our lives and ensure this unholy beast never leaves the monastery. Our eternal watch begins and our prophesied doom awaits."

doom metal is all about the atmosphere which it creates. they make drones that resonate inside your soul, it's way more thoughtful and puts the listener into a different perspective, instead of just trying to impress them with another guitar solo
