Yoda Alla Prima Oil Painting

For May the Fourth this year I painted our little green friend Yoda. This is painted in oils on an aluminum panel covered in Belgian linen. I painted wet into wet, alla prima style over a few sittings.

In one of your next streams, could you show some tips and tricks on how to reproduce traditional look in digital paintings? I know there is a video where you talk about using canvas textures, but maybe there are more tips? Like different brushwork.

Very nice Mr Jones! It's interesting that you start with lines instead of planes "like a sculptor". Good Result!

I find that the end result is more accurate when starting with lines. In a portrait, accuracy is pretty important.

Imagine if you could draw him from life with the actual Yoda puppet from the original trilogy! That would be crazy to see.

That would be amazing. I know a guy who has a bunch of high quality muppet recreations as well as a nice looking Yoda bust. Might have to look into that when the pandemic is over.
