Since the bottom is open, you would just need to carefully reach in and twist the light apart. The adhesive is really strong so it should hold well. The batteries are easy to change.

Instead of gluing the top, I would use command strips that would hold the weight of the light, then u could pull it apart n change the batteries to the light. If that makes sense. Lol
