Hi Everyone, I am so glad that you are enjoying the Anatomy Series - I am going to be working on a more detailed Yoga Anatomy Series this winter- especially geared to new Yoga Teachers or students that want to better understand what is happening in the body during Asana practice! I will post an update as I make progress on that project - Laura

Very well explained educational video. I took my yoga teacher training course back in 2007. I practice & teach & read yoga books but had not refreshed my anatomy training since YTTC. Excellent resource

Wish I had you for an anatomy teacher. My teacher used a skeleton. Your movement of your own body is so easy to understand, and remember. Thank you so much. I’m going to go to your website to see if you’re giving any classes I would be interested in

thank you! do you have any specific questions that I could include in future videos? I am working on my first section of my online anatomy training for yoga teachers so I would like to include topics that could use more clarity

Laura Goellner OMG,,, I never expect to get your comment while I am watching the video. I really love your video and watched over and over again. Fro me English is second language, and it’s much easier to understand while I listen to your words and see the motion and position. If you have an online anatomy course, I would like to join. If I can see(or read) anatomical words, it will be much better as I sometimes can get the spelling. it passes very disappear quickly even though you kindly edited adding on the screen. Your simple clear explanation is so helpful for me to understand and memorize it. I have tons of questions. I will get back to you later. 🥰 Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

@@mymiseon anatomy is hard enough on its own, but even harder when it is your second language! I am glad that the video is helping you! the online course should be completed by the end of january and I will post some information when it is complete. The course goes into more detail and has more practice videos using anatomical terminology so I think that would be great practice

Yesterday I finished the first lesson. Now I did the second one. Your videos came to me at the right time. I'll do all of them till 10th lesson, one each day :) . You are so good at explaining that it leaves almost no space for doubts. Your articulation is just superb. Thank you for posting them. I finally love studying anatomy :) it took me a while to not be averted by it but in last few months I developed a bearable relationship with it and now I just look forward to learning something new. Thanks a ton! Love from a fellow yoga teacher and practioner. Namaste!

Hitesh Bhatt this is great! I am glad you are warming up to anatomy! It is so important for yoga teachers to have a strong foundation in anatomy to hold our own in the landscape of movement professionals!

Laura Goellner that's right, Laura. It is so important to know our body from inside. It adds immense value to your own practice and teaching.

Hi. Wonderful video. Such comprehensive and simple explanations! Thankyou so much. God Bless You! Just one query. This can be applied to any exercise we do, not just yoga poses, right?

"hopefully safe"!!! That's the problem with so many exercise teachers, and it seems yoga "teachers j use hope the movement is safe. One of the many responsibilities of an exercise teacher/instructor is the safety of those taking part. You did mention afterwards "it's important" but it seems safety is taking very casual..... That's the problem with what I call "commercialised yoga"

This brings up SO many different themes that are currently emerging in the yoga world. FIRST it is important to understand that movement is not inherently safe or unsafe- there are only movements that YOUR personal body is or is not prepared for (based on your current physical condition). A pose or movement that works for one person may be painful or injury causing to another. Here is where the STUDENTs responsibility comes into play: you have a responsibility to know your body, your injuries, your conditions and what you need to avoid- report them to the teacher but remember most yoga teachers only have 20 hours of anatomy training. A comprehensive way of adapting your practice cannot be learned in a group class - where the teacher is structuring the class based on the AVERAGE fitness of the students (it is not a custom practice for you and therefore you need to know how to modify your practice BEFORE stepping into a group setting). That may come from talking to your doctor, physical therapist or having a PRIVATE one on one session with a yoga therapist. It is important that students have a realistic expectation of what they will learn in a group class vs what they will learn in a private session. Now with that said I think it should be required that all students take a few private sessions before stepping into a group class- much the way they do in proper pilates studios. Second- there is no such thing as 100% safe movement that will work from everybody- in my work as a therapist we have post surgical protocols that are created based on research- but even that does not work for every patient that i see- i have to use my clinical judgement to customize the protocol to that particular person & i am able to do that in a clinical setting when i see clients one on one. Finally- remember that a 200 hour certified yoga teacher is trained in the 8 limbs of yoga and how to pass that information on to students. They are not physical therapists that have extensive training in injury management. If i had it my way we would up the requirement for movement physiology training for yoga teachers- BUT until that happens keep in mind who is teaching you, what their education is and how much work YOU have put into knowing your own body. (I may need to make a video about this 😜) - thank you for your comment
