For Dancers everything is about movement. It's about how fast you can move, how high you can jump and how high you lift your legs. Pushing your body to extreme limits, to rhythm, and to speed. But, to be able to find extremes, one must first find a place of balance. And yoga teaches one that balance. Yoga introduces you to the balance between Right and Left , the balance between turn out or turn in, and the balance between upright and inversions.
One learns to move mindfully in a state of complete muscular awareness. Being so in sync with your body and its state of balance not only helps one soar, but also teaches you how to prevent injury. Yoga also teachers a dancer the value of stillness.
At Nritarutya, we practice yoga on a regular basis. It gives us a deeper connection in mind and body. Our yoga classes, conducted by Sandeep Lunar and Medha Bhaskar, are an integral part of our training as dancers. Sandeep has found his roots in Martial Arts. He champions his compassion and centered Yoga Philosophy to inspire his students to adopt it as their life's practice. Each class he teaches is a versatile, mystical and poetic story.
Today on International Yoga Day we are having a small talk between Nritarutya's company Director Mayuri Upadhya and Co-Founder of Amrutha Bindu Yoga Sandeep Munar
