What a beautiful sequence! And your cues are concise and easy to follow

Hey there 😊 beautiful sequence! I’m about to submit my video to yogamu very soon but I struggle a bit with timing. How do you handle to know how long you should hold poses or how many breaths…so it will be 30 min in the end? I would really appreciate an answer. Thank you, all the best!

Thank you so much! A lot of it is practice: after a while you know how long you talk and how many breaths after that you hold the pose. I’ve been teaching a variety of fitness classes for years and at first I used timers to help with that. Of course, with yoga that doesn’t really work. What helped me was timing my breathing. Set a timer for 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3, and 4 minutes and then count your breaths for each. Then when you’re holding the poses you can use finger counting: 4 counts per finger, 16 counts per hand. When I’m doing a morning stretch and mobility class I go for shorter, 30 second holds, in my evening restorative classes I usually hold for 20 breaths, depending on how long it takes to introduce the pose. When I started teaching I’d practice teach my classes talking out loud with only my dogs and cats as audience. It helps tremendously to say it out loud instead just in your head. I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for your answer! I’ll try those tips 😊👍 yeah I guess I do need to start practicing more and keeping track of time it’s just so tricky, but with your tricks I hope I’ll make it :) thank you

Although the sequence was good, I wouldn’t call this a “restorative yoga” class.

Thank you 🙏 I’m also a certified personal trainer and a corrective exercise specialist. I decided to add yoga on a whim and originally was only interested in the physical aspects. Yogamu really worked for me. I really like that most of the teachers are from India and aren’t teaching a westernized version of yoga. We follow Patanjali’s eight limb path. If you sign up, definitely join the live classes. The teachers will help with form and modifications. Is it going to be easy? No. Does it worth it? Absolutely.

Hi, would this be the video you submitted for certification?
@HannaHaideFitness11 ай бұрын
Yes, it was. I don’t know if my class work counted as well or not. I taught a couple of the live zoom classes and also taught partial classes during Tamlyn’s “Advance your asana” classes. Some were more challenging vinyasa style others more on the gentle side.
